How to get to Baler, Aurora

There are 2 ways to get to Baler, Aurora

  1. Genesis Transport Terminalin Cubao offers a bus directly to Baler. There are 2 type of buses, the Joy Bus and their regular aircon bus.
    • Joy Bus
      • Schedule: 12MN and 4:30AM
      • Travel Time: 4 hrs and 30 mins
      • Price: 650 Pesos
      • Can be reserved. Call (02) 709-0545 / (02) 709-0544 / (02) 441-6834
    • Regular Aircon Bus
      • Schedule: 1AM, 2AM, 4:30AM, 5:30AM, 6:30AM and 7:30AM.
      • 5:30AM and 6:30AM are depend if there are many passengers.
      • Price: 418 Pesos
      • Travel Time: 6 hours

    You can also take their buses going to Casiguran, Aurora via Baler

    • Schedule: 1AM and 3AM
    • Price to Baler: 418 Pesos
    • Travel Time to Baler: 6 hours

  2. Take a bus going to Cabanatuan then Van/Bus to Baler, Aurora
    • Bus from Cubao to Cabanatuan
      Travel Time: 3 hours
      Price: 185 Pesos/person/one-way

      • ES Transport (good service)
        - Schedule: 24 hours available. Wait until the bus gets almost full then they leave for Cabanatuan.

      • Five Star Bus (good service)
        - Schedule: 24 hours available. Wait until the bus gets almost full then they leave for Cabanatuan.
        - Contact Nos.: (02) 421-4716 to 17; (02) 911-7359
      • Baliwag Transit (have not tried)
        - Schedule: First Trip is 2AM until they have passengers
        - Contact Nos.: (02) 912-3343; (02) 912-3361
    • Bus from Cabanatuan to Casiguran, Aurora via Baler
      Non-airconditioned bus at Cabanatuan going to Casiguran, Aurora

      • D-Liner Buses going to Casiguran, Aurora
        Type: Non-Airconditioned
        Schedule: 2AM, 5AM and 7AM; This schedules are a bit unsure it depends if there are many passengers.
        Price to Baler: 178 Pesos/person/one-way
        Travel Time to Baler: 4 hours
    • Vans from Cabanatuan to Baler
      Vans in Cabanatuan going to Baler are available 24 hours. You’ll see them lined up at Cabanatuan Central Terminal.

      • Schedule: Frequent when there are a lot of passengers. Usually there are a lot of passengers when there are no longer buses going to Baler. If in the case that you waited for a long time and there are no more passengers left, all the remaining passengers will be paying the fee of the other passengers. Minimum number of persons before the van leaves is 10 persons.
      • Maximum no. of pax per van: 12
      • Price: 220 Pesos/person/one-way
      • Travel Time: 4 hours

How to go around Baler, Aurora

  • The main transportation in Baler, Aurora is tricycles. Prices are
    • 10 Pesos/person if within Baler town proper
    • 15 Pesos/person Baler Town Proper to Sabang Beach and vice versa
    • 13 Pesos/person Sabang Beach to Baler Public Market
  • Tricycle tours around Baler, Aurora.
    According to the local Tourism of Aurora these are their standard prices for the tricycle tours

    • History Trail & Eco Strip
      Price: 500 Pesos/Tricycle – halfday
      Max no. of pax per tricycle: 3 pax
      Places to visit: History Trail (Baler church, Dona Aurora Aragon Quezon, Museo de Baler and Quezon Park) and Eco Strip (Ermita Hill, Dimadimalangat Islet,  Diguisit Beach and Añao Islet)
      Note: You can visit Dicasalarin and PAGASA weather station but you have to walk up a steep hill for about 30 minutes for PAGASA weather station and another 30 minutes for Dicasalarin. Don’t forget you have to go back.
    • History Trail, Eco Strip, Ditumabo Falls & Balete Tree
      Price: 800 Pesos/Tricycle – wholeday
      Max no. of pax per tricycle: 3 pax
      Places to visit: History trail (Baler church, Dona Aurora Aragon Quezon, Museo de Baler and Quezon Park) and Eco Strip (Ermita Hill, Dimadimalangat Islet,  Diguisit Beach and Añao Islet) Ditumabo falls and Balete Tree.
      Note: You will have to trek for about 30-40 minutes to get to Ditumabao Falls.
    • Ampere Beach, Dipaculao Tour
      Price: 200 Pesos/Tricycle
      Max no. of pax per tricycle: 3 pax
      Places to visit: Ampere Beach

There are many lodgings around Baler. The most popular lodgings are those that are in Sabang Beach because they are closer to the beach and surfing area.

Isaw stand at Baler Public Market

  • Most of the lodgings in Baler, Aurora have restaurants or can cook food for you. Better if you contact your desired lodging for the details.
  • I have tried eating at Gerry’s Chinese & Seafood Cuisine and Bonjour Delicafe at Baler Town Proper and Bay’s Inn and the karinderya near Mahdox Surf Shop
  • If you’re looking for that quick fix of Isaw, Quek-Quek and other quirky foods you can find them in Baler’s Public Market and near Mahdox Surf Shop at Sabang Beach.
  • Usually karinderya’s open at around 6AM up to 8PM, but if it’s peak season

What to do in Baler, Aurora

  • You can surf or learn to surf at Sabang Beach in Baler, Aurora. Standard prices and details are listed below
    350 Pesos – 1 hour surf lessons with personal instructor and board
    200 Pesos – board rental per hour
    500 Pesos – Half day rental (4 hours)
    1,000 Pesos – Whole day rental (8 hours)

When is the best time to go to Baler, Aurora

  • If you’re a surfer then the best time would be during Amihan (Northeast Monsoon), September to April because the general direction of the wind would be westward creating bigger waves.
  • If you’re just a simple laid back tourist/traveller then the best time would be any time.
  • Should I go to Baler, Aurora when it is raining? Yes! The roads going to Baler are about 90% made of concrete road making it less affected when there is rain. If you’re going there via private vehicle be careful when you pass through the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges because the roads are winding.

Other Useful Information About Baler, Aurora

  • They have gas stations in Baler, Aurora.
  • There are 2 Automatic Teller Machines in Baler Town Proper, Landbank and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), which caters to the following groups – Bancnet, Expressnet, Megalink, EXK, UCB, Mastercard, Maestro, Cirrus and Paylink. Unfortunately, since there are only 2 ATMs, they are usually out of cash so better have enough cash before going to Baler.

    • Hi K, I suggest staying in sabang beach so that you would not worry on the time of surfing when it is getting late. I suggest the homestay by june samano so you could get a affordable lodging. Enjoy your trip to Baler. :-)
