  1. Am looking for places to go in Samar. Thanks for this post, very informative and the banigs look really artful. I bought some from Liliw recently but now suspect they are made in China- go figure.

    I think you’ve got a wrong information :). As far as I know, the raw materials that are used in making the banig is a local grass called TICOG that is abundant in Basey and not in Tacloban. And this ticog is being dried and colored and weaved under the Basiao Rock Formation and then it will be sold to the taga burda in the town proper to sell it to the people not only in Basey but all through out the nation. 🙂 Hope you visit again this town.
