There are Public Vans that goes to Guiuan from Tacloban City. They are Van-Vans and Duptours. Below are their details

Duptours

  • First Trip: 5:20 AM; Last Trip: 6:30 PM; Van leaves every hour even if it is not full.
  • Fare is 120 Pesos/person.
  • Travel Time is 3 hours.

  • First Trip: 5:30 AM; Last Trip: 5:00 PM; Van leaves every 30 mins even if it is not full.
  • Fare is 140 Pesos/person.

From Borongan, Eastern Samar

There are Jeepneys that goes to Guiuan from Borongan. This will also pass by the jumpoff of Divinubo Island and Minasangay Island. Below are the details

- First Trip: 7:00 AM; Last Trip: 3:00 PM; When the jeep is almost full it leaves.
- Fare is estimated to be 120 Pesos/person
- Travel Time is 3 hours 20 minutes.

Important Notes

  • The market at Guiuan is near the Transport Terminal. It is actually walking distance from there.
  • There are a lot of eateries, karinderyas, restaurants and bakeries in the main town of Guiuan. You can eat there. But it’s still best to eat at the Guiuan Transport Terminal.
  • There’s a lot of lodging in the town Guiuan. Unfortunately, I still do not have any information about them.

How to get out of Guiuan, Eastern Samar

To Salcedo, Eastern Samar

There are tricycles going to Salcedo in Guiuan Transport Terminal.

  • Availability is from 6AM to 5PM. When the tricycle is full it leaves.
  • Fare is 25 Pesos/person
  • Estimated Travel Time is 20 minutes
  • This will also pass by the jumpoff of Hagnaya Beach

Jeepneys going to Borongan are located in Guiuan Transport Terminal.

To Tacloban City, Leyte

Both Duptours and Van-vans also has trips going to Tacloban City, Leyte. Each has an independent terminal in Guiuan so better ask around where their terminals are. Below are their details.

Van-Vans

  • First Trip: 4:00 AM; Last Trip: 4:00 PM; Van leaves every 30 minutes even when it is not full.
  • Fare is 130 Pesos/person
  • Estimated Travel Time is 3 hours

Duptours

  • First Trip: 4:00 AM; Last Trip: 5:30 PM; Van leaves every hour even when it is not full.
  • Fare is 120 Pesos/person
  • Estimated Travel Time is 3 hours

There are also non-airconditioned buses going to Tacloban City. Unfortunately, I have not gathered information about them but they are definitely slower than the vans and hopefully cheaper too.

To Cubao, Quezon City

Yes, you are reading it correctly. There are provincial buses going to Pasay/Cubao, Metro Manila from Guiuan, Eastern Samar. Eaglestar to be specific. They have an independent station in Guiuan, better ask around if you want to ride this.

Unfortunately again, I have not gathered much information on this transportation but if you want to ride Eaglestar to Guiuan you may call them at (055) 560-9008

It was too bad that I only had a few hours in Guiuan. I would have loved to stay longer, experience more and documented more. If only I had the time and the budget. I’m sure in the right time I will.

Now that you know everything I know about Guiuan, I advise you to travel to Guiuan. You’re experience will definitely be more unique and more awesome than my experience.

  2. uuwi dn ako jan 1 of these days.theres no place like home.unfortunately, wla na kming bahay yta sa guiuan.hehehe.hopefully after ng contract ko sa barko makauwi ako jan at makapag simba para mkapag pasalamat sa lahat ng blessings na natanggap ko.maiha na nga panahon na waray ak makauli dida ha guiuan.i miss my hometown, my relatives and also my ex-gf.na may asawa na cguro sa ngayon. :sad:
