Lodgings in Sabang, Puerto Princesa, Palawan

Since there are a lot of things you can do other than the famous Puerto Princesa Underground River in the town of Sabang, I highly recommend spending 2 or 3 days there.

So where should you stay in Sabang? Here’s the top 3 accomodations that I recommend when you stay in Sabang.

1. Tribal Beach Resort & Restaurant

Away from the crowd and has a beach front makes the Tribal Beach Resort the top of my list. Think of swimming when there is daylight, just sitback on the sand at night time and just go in to your room whenever you feel like it.

They also have a restaurant too where we ate good food.

  • Rates are negotiable especially during off-peak season
  • A friend of mine stayed here by pitching their tent, they just paid the resort a minimal fee.

2. Sunbird Cottages & Blue Bamboo Restaurant

Or famously known in Sabang as Blue Bamboo. Though it only has a sea front and no beach, I highly recommend this place because it’s the cheapest of all the lodgings in Sabang. And since we are cheapo, this is the place where we stayed.

350 Pesos/night 2 May or may not have a private CR.
If it has a CR, it does not have a shower.
500 Pesos/night 2 Private CR with shower.

The room/hut we got

Additional Notes

  • Their restaurant is open from 6AM to 10PM
  • Their rooms are actually huts
  • Avoid getting room #2, because at the bottom that’s where they hang the bed sheets and the floor of the huts are strips of bamboo. You could easily get disturbed or worse be peeped on.

Room #2, the one you should avoid

  • They have a CR and shower outside.

3. Dabdab

This resort is famous with foreign backpackers and because it’s one of the cheapest I would also highly recommend it.

  • All lodgings has a checkout time of 12 noon.
  • Penao & Robert’s Resort gets crowded when the packaged day tour to the Subterranean River arrives.

  • Some of the rooms does not have any electric fans, kindly ask the lodgings when you contact them.
  • Dabdab, Blue Bamboo and Alpuerto are located in the eastern side of Sabang Port. When you are in Sabang Port face the sea and go to your left. You’ll be passing by a community. My brother and I even had doubts that there are lodgings there but we kept on going by the road on the seaside and there were lodgings there. At night the road going there are really dark so don’t forget to bring a flashlight.
  • Dayunan and Balay-Balay are located in Sabang Port.
  • Other lodgings are located in the western side of the port.
  • You can get massages in the lodgings, just inquire at their desk. The usual rates are
  • There are sari-sari stores and souvenir shops in Sabang. They are open from 6AM to 7PM.
  • There’s also a drinking water refilling station there.
  • All rates may change without prior notice. Please contact the lodgings for their updated rates.
  • The complete location of Sabang is Sabang, Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City
  • What I really like about Sabang, Puerto Princesa is how they built the lodgings a little far from the shore. There’s actually a line of vegetation between the shore and the resorts. Two thumbs up Sabang for doing this!

  2. very informative and helpful!

  3. thanks for this post.this will come in handy talaga pag nagala na ako sa palawan

  4. thanks for all your posts Josiah! most helpful and informative guide to palawan I found online. laking tulong esp for me arranging everything long-distance. Good Luck on your project. I really appreciate what you’re doing here in your blog :)

  5. the best blog re: sabang accommodations! Thanks a lot!

  6. Josiah,

I really appreciate your website blogs. However, I may have missed a couple of steps and would love for you to email me with clarification. If I understand it all correctly, if I want the underground river tour and want to spend a couple of days in Palawan, I should:

    1. Leave the airport and head for the PPUR Office at the City Coliseum. Get a permit for the day I want to tour the underground river.

    2. Get transportation to Sabang and stay there. Is there a reason you are not recommending staying in Puerto Princesa? Where is Sabang in comparison to Puerto Princesa?

    3. Make arrangements before arrival from the airport, to secure a seat on a van.

Does that sound close to what you are recommending?

  7. Hi, Josiah, thank you for doing this  It’s indispensable, esp for people like us who bought plane tickets when they were on sale and promptly forgot  about them in the mad rush of daily living. We’ll be leaving in 3 days and we still don’t have anything planned or reserved. Your well-researched Palawan series is a great help, esp the contact details. Thank you very much.
