What’s a Pogi Pack?
A Pogi Pack is the male counterpart of the Kikay Kit. It is a container especially made for the carrier of the Y chromosome that may contain the basic hygienic gadgets such as soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and many more.
The items inside are purposely not be used in any other circumstance other than travel. (usually not followed)
Etymology of the Pogi Pack
I first heard it from my friend, Gian, when we were still addicted to mountaineering. He was thinking of what to call the container where we put our hygienic stuff. He wanted it to be a repeating letter acronym just like the KK of the Kikay Kit. That’s when he thought of the term – Pogi Pack – PP.
Why Have a Pogi Pack?
If you are someone who never learn to pack in advance and does it only about an hour or 2 before you leave the house. You quickly scour through your clothes, your gadgets, flashlights,
check your facebook, then panic that you still have not packed your toothpaste and soap only to find out that you forgot your toothbrush and deodorant, which is a no-no to borrow from your travel buddies. Then the Pogi Pack is for you.
It would shave off a few minutes of your time so you could put more time to important matters like checking out what you’re crush who’s coming to travel with you really likes.
Actually, the Pogi Pack is for every guy out there who frequently travels.
Where did I get my Pogi Pack?
My current Pogi Pack is actually a pencil case made of a shiny clothe and mesh that I bought from Saizen for 85 Pesos.
Did I just pick it up when I saw it? Well… yeah… I thought that if it is those materials then it could easily dry up, its size is perfect for my stuff and the material is good so I can forcefully push it into my pack when the pack is about to explode. Though it was a spur-of-the-moment buying, it’s one of my frequently used item so it’s a pretty good deal.
What’s in my Pogi Pack?
I keep it handsomely basic. Anything that I frequently use in the comfort room are what I only put in.
Soap – best used with a tabo and balde. Used 2x a day.
Toothbrush – best used with a cup made of bare hands. Used 3x a day.
Toothpaste – use generously when new. Use only a small amount while squeezing hard when almost empty. Used 3x a day.
Deodorant – something to keep my friends alive. Used 1x a day.
Shampoo – used only whenever I feel like using it. I’m semi-kalbo.
If you want to add more its really up to you. Though others say that the fewer things you put in your Pogi Pack the lesser it becomes synonymous to the Kikay Kit. But don’t let others stop you from defining your own Pogi-ness. Define it on your own. You’re unique, just like everyone else.
Would you recommend a type of Pogi Pack to buy?
Any container you are comfortable with, quick drying and would fit easily in your bag even if it’s the last thing you put in is the ideal type of Pogi Pack to buy.
By the way, I discourage the use of plastic bags as your Pogi Pack as it could easily rip when pushed inside your tightly squeezed backpack. If it gets ripped then you throw your old plastic bag and use a new one. That’s really not a Pogi move to do. The cleaner you are, the Pogi-er you become.
Will the Pogi Pack increase my Pogi Points?
A Pogi Pack is just a tool to help you pack things up really fast especially when you’re panic packing. It’s not something that adds to your Pogi Points.
I’ll give you a little secret though for you to increase your Pogi Points with the Pogi Pack – It’s not how big it is. It’s how frequently you use it.
