Our first plan when we arrived was to look for a place where we could shelter ourselves from the strong rain. We found one and there were other visitors that had the same plan as ours. It was only when all the adrenaline of the short run subsided that I get to observe the surroundings of Cantingas River Resort.
A valley that was carved by the river for many years. Rocks that looks like small shiny pebbles due to the distance from where I am and the rain. A platform that goes high above a pool that looks really deep. Trees and shrubs that had dark green leaves.
The rain gave a peaceful yet lonely mood. I liked it. It stopped our bodies from moving forward but allowed our minds to move forward and reflect. It gave time to talk to total strangers.
When the rains rage mellowed down I decided to walk to the towering platform for a different view. The concrete walkway was slippery that I had to walk slightly tiptoed to add friction to my steps. Slowly but surely. The flight of step to the tower was also slippery, this time it provided fences that one could hold on to.
From the second floor of the tower it provided a higher perspective of the place. A much better perspective that made me feel that I’m on top of things yet the floor above me says that there will always be something higher to go up to.
I could see where the rivers water was coming from. I saw cables from this tower to another platform from a farther distance on the river, I realized that they offer ziplines here too. More rocks that looked like big pebbles.
There were a couple of people that were working on the river bed. They were piling rocks on a side of the river. It seems that they were covering a part of the river that was developed using concrete. I think that that was a great way to make the resort feel a lot more natural even though it had a lot of development with the use of concrete.
I cautiously walked onto the end of the jumping platform. It was high. It was deep. I wanted to jump but I can’t. I was the only one in the vicinity. Rain was falling and I cannot find a place to put a camera without it getting wet. I wanted to jump but I can’t. I went back with only regret and the hopes that sometime in my life I would be going back to this place to make that jump.
One of the pebbles from my peripheral vision was moving. When I looked closely it was Dazl doing her ninja turtle moves while taking pictures of the resort.
When the rain subsided and thinking that we have spent enough time exploring the place we decided to move on to our third and last destination of our tricycle tour, Dagubdob Picnic Grove.
Cantingas River Resort Details
10 Pesos/person – Entrance Fee
300 Pesos/Cottage Room/Night
250 Pesos/head – Zipline

How to get there
When we went there it was part of our tricycle tour from the municipality of San Fernando which costs 700 Pesos/tricycle that made us go to Busay Falls, Cantingas River Resort and Dagubdob Picnic Grove.
But I wished that we could have stayed longer and experienced more of the river resort like jumping off the cliff to the deep fresh water or just simply swimming on the river.
How to get out
Either your tricycle can wait for you or fetch you again on your desired time or the next day, or you can walk to the National Highway where tricycles passes by but not that frequent. I’m not sure though of the prices of the tricycle. Better to contact the resort for more information.
- When we went there they do not have any food or a store so better to bring your food.
