One of the reasons why I always avail of check-in luggage when I go to Iligan City is the Cheding’s Toasted Peanuts, or just Cheding’s Peanut. Cheding’s Peanut is widely known in Iligan as the tasty peanut that came from Iligan. It’s really good that when my uncle who works abroad knew that I was documenting Iligan City he told me that I should buy him 2 kilos of the peanuts. When I went home I had 4 kilos of Cheding’s Peanut in 1/4 kilo packages (52.50 Pesos/piece). Then the half-kilo of peanuts we placed during the my Lolo’s birthday party was quickly consumed.
When I was still in College I went to Iligan and gave my classmates Cheding’s Peanut and all those who gave feedback said that it tasted good.
So far in all my life, this is the best peanut I have tasted. The reason might be that Cheding’s Peanut is one of the best or I have not travelled and tasted enough of the world’s peanuts.
During my visit to document Iligan I had to visit the store where Cheding’s Toasted Peanuts originated. After we documented Jasmine Pension House, we rode a jeepney going to Iligan City Proper and told the driver to drop us off at Cheding’s (7.50 Pesos/person). We got down and saw the store from across the street. But we had to be careful when crossing as there are a lot of jeepneys here. This is where all jeepneys going in and out of Iligan City converge.
Their also selling other pasalubongs that came from nearby places.
After going around the store I went to the staff and told them that I would be needing to buy 4 kilos worth of Cheding’s Toasted Peanut in 1/4 kilo packages (52.50 Pesos/piece). That cost me 840 Pesos. Expensive I know but there are a lot of people that I would like to give these tasty peanuts. Besides, 2 kilos of it would go to my uncle.
In conclusion, other than the waterfalls, buying Cheding’s Toasted Peanuts in Iligan City for pasalubong is a must. Worth to carry the name of Iligan’s Pride.

Ride any jeep headed to Iligan City Proper and tell the driver to drop you off at Cheding’s. Minimum fare was 7.50 Pesos/person (one-way). Travel Time was around 5 minutes.
You can ride the jeepney again. But you can also just walk to the other parts of the city. The City Proper is just small and almost walkable if you are used to walking.
Disclosure: My travel to Iligan City was not sponsored. I went there on my own decision and with my own money. Though I did have help on planning my visit there with Lisa Marie of PinayTravelista.com.
