I have been thinking about having good coffee and how much it affects my finances. Buying a coffee from Starbucks or Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is not cheap. One can go cheaper by buying their coffee beans or going to the grocery to buy coffee beans and have it brewed in your own home.
Coffee lovers haven in Baguio. There are two shops that sells Roasted Coffee Beans in Baguio Public Market. Namely Garcia's Pure Coffee and Kape Umali. We bought a kilo of Sagada Dark Roast Coffee (360 Pesos/kg) and a kilo of Benguet Blend Coffee (220 Pesos/kg). We had grinded finely so that I could use it with our coffee maker. This is now one of the places that I should visit when I am in Baguio. #Baguio #BaguioCity #Benguet #Philippines #Market #PublicMarket #Coffee #CoffeeBean #TheForestLodge #TheManor
I encountered this dilemma when I was reading Randell Tiongson’s book titled Money Manifesto: Lessons in Personal Finance where he tackles on the last chapter about coffee and finances. He mentioned about where I could buy coffee beans for a much cheaper price in Baguio Public Market yet with good quality. I actually forgot about this due to the many activities that we were doing in Baguio.
When I called my mother on what pasalubong she wants, she told me that I should go to Baguio Public Market and buy Benguet Bleand and Sagada coffee beans and have it grinded. This was when the chapter on the book came back to me. It made me excited to see where I could source this affordable coffee beans.
The morning before we head home to Manila, we passed by the market and asked around where we could buy coffee. It was not hard to find since everybody knows where it was.
When we got there, there were two stores that sells the coffees – Garcia’s Pure Coffee and Kape Umali. We checked the prices and since they have the same rates we decided to buy at Garcia’s Pure Coffee (actually because I already took a lot of photos there).
I’ll be putting the details (contact number, operating hours, etc) of Garcia’s Pure Coffee and Kape Umali at the end of this post.
