Judge me if you must, but for travellers like me who feed their wanderlust whenever they can – every penny saved is penny earned. I like to travel whenever I can afford it and work actively towards making it happen often. Dubai has been on my mind for quite some time now. With skyscrapers, heritage villages, exotic souks, opulent shopping malls and desert safaris, there is no reason to stay away. Upon checking online, I discovered that there are many hotels in Dubai which are budget-friendly. Thereafter, there was no looking back. I was committed to visiting Dubai.
Reaching Dubai is not difficult either from Ahmedabad, from where I hail. Find best deal for Ahmedabad to Dubai flights and you are halfway there! The best deals on Dubai flights are available if you book them ahead of time. Do that and look for accommodations in Dubai which do not break the bank. Here’s a list of some of the places I looked at:
EasyHotel Jebel Ali
This hotel is close to the Ibn Battuta Mall. Google Maps showed me that it is at a walking distance from the Jebel Ali Metro Station. That, I liked. It would mean that I would be able to get around the city easily. There is a restaurant on-site and a 24-hour Front Desk. The rooms are also fairly decent, fitted with tiled floors. With a safe-deposit box, wardrobe and flat-screen TV in the room, the basics are covered. Some of the rooms also offered a view of the city. Ask for them when you check-in. They are yours if they are available.
This is a three-star property which is very reasonably priced. It is also close to many heritage and tourist destinations. The Clock Tower, the Old Harbour and the Al Ghurair shopping mall are not too far away. If the weather is hot and you fancy a swim, there is an outdoor swimming pool you can use. It also has a gym, but I never work-out when I am holidaying! With many dining options available, it just makes life simpler to come back to the hotel after a long day of sightseeing and eat in. Breakfast is also served in the guest rooms. Also, did I tell you that there is a shuttle service to the nearby Dubai International Airport? Convenient indeed.
Fortune Karama Hotel
Another three-star hotel, this one is close to Bur Dubai and the World Trade Center. The rooms are spacious and air-conditioned. You will appreciate the air-conditioning when the sun beats down and you retire to your room to rest. There is an outdoor swimming pool. I always check out the pool after a day of local sightseeing. It rejuvenates me for the next day. The hotel also has a spa and a fitness center. Head here, if you please, to relax or work up an appetite. There are cafes, nightclubs and a sports cafe in the property -you will never go hungry. I found each room comes with its own balcony – a fine touch, if you ask me.
Mount Royal Hotel
This two-star property offers air-conditioned rooms with wooden furniture. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the public transport is easily accessible from here – it just makes life simpler, don’t you think? There is an internet cafe in the lobby, I discovered. Room service is also available. You can easily plan your stay here. Cheap flights to Dubai will take you there and Mount Royal Hotel makes your stay pleasant. Not a bad idea at all, what say?
Rush Inn Hotel
Rush Inn Hotel is bang in the middle of the financial district of Dubai. With modern furnishings, the rooms are more than decent. I like the mini-fridge in the room to answer my hunger-pangs in the middle of the night. Be warned however, you will be charged for it. If you are looking to breakfast or have lunch before you set out for the day, head to the Stadium Cafe. For a meal that reminds you of home, head to the Indian restaurant on the property. The bathrooms are stocked with amenities – something that seasoned travellers like me always look forward to. Each room comes with a balcony, I found.
