Boat Ride to Romblon Island from Batangas Port

October 11, 2012 by Josiah 2 Comments

I left home last May 5, 2012 (Saturday) about 11AM to ride a bus to Batangas Port and ride a boat going to Romblon Island. The first day that I set foot on the province of Romblon is the day after but May 5 is what I consider the first day of our trip.

The boat we were riding at Batangas Port

From the house I took a taxi going to Cubao and from there I rode a Jac Liner Bus (175 Pesos/person, 2 hours) which left around 12 noon going to Batangas Port. I needed to be in Batangas Port by 3PM as I was still meeting Dazl and her family along with Marky and Pam. Turns out I was way too early at Batangas Port (2PM) so I decided to buy a drinking water and some snacks. I saw a 711 convenience store in the vicinity but I decided to buy from a sari-sari store within the port because I like to support small businesses. When I asked for a 350mL of drinking water the lady at the sari-sari store said that it cost 30 Pesos a bottle! I was shocked but decided to buy the water since I thought that at the airport prices also goes that high. I was then craving for a hotdog sandwich that only 711 had, so I went there and decided to also check their 350mL drinking water and it was just 15 Pesos!

I like supporting small businesses but if their quality of service is crap and their prices are a total ripoff, I would happily go to big companies to get what a hard earning citizen, like me, really deserves.

Going back to the topic, Dazl and company arrived. I went through the terminal and met them to get my Montenegro Lines ticket to Romblon Island (954 Pesos/person, economy accommodation).

Man On A Raft in Taal Lake

November 30, 2010 by Josiah 5 Comments

A man on a raft caught my attention while I was taking pictures at Balai Isabel.

I observed him wandering on the waters of Taal Lake until he carefully stood up, took a thin long pole of bamboo and steadily observed the waters. I then realized that he was located in deep water when he slowly poked the water with the bamboo.

He lifted the bamboo now with a cage on the lower end and just before the cage was completely lifted, tiny little splashes were

Pakaskas

July 18, 2010 by Josiah 10 Comments

When we were on our way to Isla Verde, one of the passengers was carrying a nice tube packaging. Luckily she sat right next to us and we were able to ask regarding the packaging, she said it was Pakaskas.

Pakaskas neat packaging

It’s a snack made in the island and it’s made from Buri palm sugar molds.

I had the chance to buy this in Brgy. San Agapito. It was sold at 20 pesos per

Company Outing at Balai Isabel

June 4, 2010 by Josiah Leave a Comment

Free transportation, food, drinks, activities and everything is all well planned out! Who can say no to that? I know I would, but I didn’t have enough reason to say no. So I did what I should do and joined our company outing. 🙂

Seeing other employees/friends not in their usual office attire but in their casual/porma attire was something new to me. Some were going around and greeting people and some were occupied attending to the needs of their children. When you sum it all up, chaos is what you get. Luckily the company outing committee knew this would be a problem, and the solution they made was to deploy the peace and order family, the MARSHAL family.
