Hundred Islands Service Boat Guide

February 4, 2012 by Josiah 8 Comments

Whenever I go to Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos, Pangasinan I take the Service Boat instead of the Regular Tour because I would like to visit the many islands inside the park. Unfortunately, everytime I ask the different boatmen I was with to take us to an undeveloped island they would stare blank at me and suggest the 3 developed islands! Fail!

So I decided to make a Service Boat Guide so whenever you are doing a Island Hopping tour in the Hundred Islands National Park you would just say the undeveloped island that you want to swim in or the island you would want to spend time.

Beach at Lopez Island

Here are the islands that you can go because they have beaches.

Name of Island Has shade
Lopez Island Morning and a little space in the afternoon
Scout Island Morning
Old Scout Island Morning
Marcos Island Morning. Can also do cliff jumping inside Imelda Cave
Clave Island Morning and Afternoon
Cuenco Island West Side morning shade. East Side afternoon shade.
Ma. Liza Island Morning
Quirino Island Morning

Hundred Islands Tourist Welcome Center

February 1, 2012 by Josiah 1 Comment

I was looking for an information center at Lucap Wharf in Alaminos, Pangasinan for the Hundred Islands National Park 4 years ago. I’ve heard that there exists of an information center but due to the persistence of our lodging I never got to visit the information center nor was the center easily visible. Fortunately, on my second visit in the park there was a big improvement, the information Center is now very visible and they call it the Tourist Welcome Center.

Tourist Welcome Center at Lucap Wharf

The Tourist Welcome Center is open 24 hours everyday according to the brochure that they gave me.

You can find the following in the Tourist Welcome Center

Lodgings in Abrac Beach in Patar, Bolinao, Pangasinan

January 31, 2012 by Josiah 6 Comments

When we were in Bolinao, Pangasinan we decided to spend the night at Abrac Beach in Patar mainly because I love the sunset there and in the morning or late afternoon a walk along the beach would be really be nice.

Nipa Huts

If you’re planning to stay in Abrac Beach, you want to try staying in the Nipa Huts that are located there in the beach front.

Inside a Nipa Hut in Abrac Beach, Patar

What I hate about the nipa huts there is that they are really near each other and they have videoke in front! When I was talking with one of the owners of the nipa hut we were literally shouting just to hear the both of us. There’s a curfew for videoke, 10PM.

Some Nipa Hut is provided with a cottage and table in front and a cooking area at the back. Kuya Benjie’s Nipa Huts all has this.

Cottages in front of the Nipa Huts

Among the Nipa Hut lodgings in the beach I would like to recommend Benjie’s Nipa Hut because it is located in the farthest side of the beach, only a few of their nipa huts have videokes when we were there and they provide a spotlight for people who wants to do night swimming.

Pasalubong from Bolinao, Pangasinan

January 30, 2012 by Josiah 4 Comments

Binungey

Located at the entrance of St. James the Great Parish Church. The sellers in front have a uniform and when asked what Binungey is they explained that it is “Suman sa Kawayan” or in English translation Rice Cake in Bamboo.

Fish Sauces/Paste

If you look at the origin of the word Pangasinan it’s Pang-Asin-an. Pangasinan is famous for its fish sauces or bagoong.

Some bagoong costs 15 Pesos per cup and some even goes up to 70 Pesos per cup
