Joed’s Lutong Hapon
Into Japanese food? Then Joed’s Lutong Hapon is the place to be. While there, you can indulge in a variety of dishes such as sushi, pork gyudon, and the likes. Their taste are not too salty and the seaweeds as well as other ingredients are fresh and seasoned. Aside from being delectable, meals are light on the pocket. For instance a bowl of pork gyudon costs about PHP 95.00.
Oriental Spice Gourmet
If you’re willing to travel for good food, then Oriental Spice Gourmet is just what the doctor ordered for you. A bit far from the city center, it is well worth the commute. There, your craving for delectable Southeast Asian dishes such as Hainese Chicken, Phad Thai, Tom Yam Chicken, and Laksa is going to be satisfied. Well, that may be a bit exaggerated, but seriously, Casa Verde’s baby back ribs is a little something that you won’t regret; it’s a must try if you’re in Cebu. It’s just mouthwatering, period. One order comes with a cup of rice as well as buttered veggies and it can actually go for sharing. Also, it’s light on the pocket, costing less than PHP 300.00.
Kusina Uno
Kusina Uno is your go-to-diner if you want a taste of authentic Filipino Cuisine. Their best-sellers are Nilagang Baka, soup that is simmered whole peppercorns and onions and Pochero, a tomato-based stew and this is the reason why it’s flocked by locals and tourists alike. You’d be happy to know that Kusina Uno is open 24-hours a day, making it an ideal stop after a day of touring.
MexiMama
Another diner that is a bit far from the city center, but definitely worth the effort. Some of their best sellers are Costillas de Cordo (baby back ribs in orange barbeque sauce), Chuletas (marinated pork chop), and Elotes (grilled corn on cob). All of them cost below PHP 200.00; as such, you can enjoy a gastronomic experience without breaking the bank.
Larsian BBQ
Craving barbecue and other dishes at an ungodly hour? Then head over to Cebu’s favorite barbecue place: Larsian. A must-try while there is Chorizo de Cebu (local sausage), which is coupled by rice that is wrapped in leaves. Don’t expect anything fancy since it’s just a circle of about 30 stalls where vendors simply hawk their barbecues. There are no spoons and forks there and you are going to be given disposable plastic gloves.
Mango Museum
Ever wonder how Cebu’s dried mangoes are made? Take a sneak peak in Mandaue’s ProFood factory where you can watch a short film that shows the mentioned mangoes’ manufacturing procedures in the factory’s mini theater. Also, you can stroll in their museum that contains exhibits that explain the entity’s rich history. And of course, buy their food products or souvenirs.
Café Jasmin
Café Jasmin is a unique coffee shop that also doubles as a creative hub. Every cup of coffee is a masterpiece that can be paired with French or Italian pastry. Upon leaving, make sure to get a copy of love-themed poems that are written by the café owner: Kota Yamada.
