Centennial Park was not on our itinerary on the day that we visited Dodiongan Falls, but since we were at the highway already at 3:23PM the group (Alex and Lisa Marie) decided that we should visit Centennial Park and wait for the sunset there.
3:26 PM – We rode a Dalipuga bound and told the driver that we were going down at the Centennial Park. We paid the fare of 11 Pesos/person.
3:43 PM – The jeepney dropped us off at the front of the Centennial Park. Â 17 minutes jeepney ride.
There were stores along the road so we decided to have a snack first before entering the park. This was also where I removed my wet shoes and changed to my slippers.
After buying some chips and drinks we proceeded going inside the Centennial Park. There were no entrance fee but we do have to follow some rules.

We looked for a nice place to view the sunset while seating on the grass. The problem is that the grass were a bit needle-like therefore it could pierce right through our shorts and into our butt cheeks. Good thing that Lisa Marie brought a towel which did help us to comfortably sit down on the grass.
I’m not really sure the history of why they built Centennial park but to what I can remember was that they build this park to remember the 100 years of independence of the Philippines.
During our conversations and picture taking while waiting for the sunset, we texted Sir Mike of Maayong Iligan for him to join us for the sunset viewing. Though he did miss the sunset he was able to push us to go explore more of Centennial Park.

See the bamboo bridge on the lower right of the photo? We had to cross that to get to the other side but since we were afraid that it could not take our weight we decided to go down and walk on the side and look for stairs so we can go back up.
5:42 PM – We decided to call it a day and go back to the highway to catch a jeep heading back to the city proper. I was a bit worried that since it was already dark there would be really few jeepneys in the area that we had to wait for a long time. But luckily when we got out there was a jeepney waiting for passengers outside the Centennial Park.

6:15 PM – We arrived back at Iligan City Town Proper. We went down at Chelina Arcade near the Iligan Institute of Technology (IIT) in Tibanga to head to Iliganon Cafe and taste their Beef Randang.
- There is no entrance fee to get inside the park.
- There are stores outside the park.
- So far, this is the best place to view the sunset at Iligan City.
- I’m not sure if this place closes at night.
Ride a jeepney bound for Dalipuga in the city proper of Iligan City. It’s best to wait for the jeep at Gaisano Mall.
