Did you know that there’s an old spanish fortress in Taytay, Palawan?
It was first built with only wood in 1667 but later was rebuilt to a stone walled fortress in 1814 to protect Taytay from pirates and other evil sea farers.
What can you do there?
You can actually get married there. There’s a small church inside the fortress where you can have your procession. Very ideal if you want to have your honeymoon in El Nido. Bad idea if you want your friends to be away from you during your honeymoon.
Moving on, you can go sight seeing inside the fortress. You’ll see the islands of Taytay, their sea transport terminal, their public market and the Hollywood inspired sign of Taytay. Though, I admit I’m not a fan of the sign.
Would you recommend going there?
YES! Being a historical place with a magnificent view I highly recommend going there. Though it is quite a logistical challenge when you go there via public transportation but when you rented a private van to El Nido or Puerto Princesa, do ask for your driver to take you there.
