(May 8, 2012) It was the fourth day of our visit around the Province of Romblon and we were now ready to go and hike Gomot Falls. One of our main destinations in the island of Sibuyan Island.
The day before, we had to visit the Municipal Hall of Cajidiocan since we needed to have permission to enter the land where the Indigenous People (IP) of Cajidiocan resides because that is where Gomot Falls resided. I think it’s also inside Mount Guiting-Guiting Natural Park. Once we got permission to enter the land we finally had our much needed rest for the trek the next day. But the municipality had different plans for us, as we were invited to judge a contest in one of their baranggays.
The event ended at around 1:30 AM and we had to wake up early so we could start our trek early to Gomot Falls.
We woke up at around 6:00 AM, ate breakfast and met with our guides (Kuya Inggo and Kuya Jeffrey) which actually live near the falls. We decided to buy burgers for lunch at a local shop, which was actually a bad move as they have really slow service making us start to leave town at around 7:53 AM. But at least we were starting.
We started at together with Marky of NomadicExperiences.com, Dazl of DazzlingDazzle.com and Pam a friend of Dazl which became our friends too. But after a few minutes it was obvious that the group had different speeds. Dazl and Marky guided by Kuya Inggo were in the fast group. Me and Pam guided by Kuya Jeffrey were in the not so fast group.
So we kept on walking through coconut plantations and through trails without cover. The sun was hot which encouraged us to walk faster for shade.

Once in a while we would encounter lands that were slashed and burned and will be planted by upland rice such as denorado, etc.
When we arrived at the first house along the trail (10:04 AM) Marky and Dazl was there waiting for us while chatting with the residents there. I’m really glad that we had Kuya Inggo and Kuya Jeffrey there as they were known throughout the community. Lessening the doubts of the people of who we are.
Then we continued our walk again.
(11:20 AM) We arrived at a house where we had our snacks.
Traps for river shrimps.
We continued our walk again, climbing up rocks and crossing streams. Even went through a barb wired fence.

Climbing up steep trails and crossing over fallen trees.
It was tiring walk that’s why when we came across a water where we could take a quick dip we did.
Then we continued our walk.
Or climb.
(2:05 PM) Finally, we arrived at Gomot Falls.
Just when I thought that we were the only group there, a child appeared at the falls.

(2:43 PM) We started walking back to town.
Since Marky and Dazl was in the fast group, they went ahead of us to visit a hanging bridge and a small falls.
By the time that we separated we all hadn’t had lunch.
When we arrived at the house nearest the falls. Marky and Dazl left a note that tells us that they already went ahead. The thing is the burgers were in Dazl’s bag!!! So we were already hungry.
We were offered by the kind lady at the house rice but she was shy because she did not have a viand. But I was really happy that she offered it to us and I kindly accepted the rice and ate it with gusto. I was really hungry by then. Pam ate too.
We thanked the lady and left.
It was already night time and we were still on the trail. The good thing is that we can now hear the booming of a loud base from a stereo. Then we saw the light of the Poblacion of Cajidiocan.
As we got closer to the town the sound was getting louder. I’d never thought I would be so happy to hear someone so out of tune in videoke.
When the signal was available, we were able to call Captain Bibo Porras and he was able to fetch us from the mountain. Thank you!
We arrived back at the town proper of Cajidiocan at around 7:30PM.
We were glad to know that Marky, Dazl and Kuya Inggo were already there. About a few minutes ahead of us.
They asked us where the burgers were. We told them that it was in Dazl’s bag. They said they tried looking for it but they did not find it. Though we were all hungry because of the burger incident we all laughed.
If you plan to visit here, please keep your trash and bring it down. How would you feel when people visit your house and leave trash in the house?

They weren’t old ladies, they were little girls. Two, about 10 and 12. They looked exactly the same, dressed exactly the same and both had no bridges on their upper lips. They stood in the middle of the narrow trail, I actually smiled and talked to them if they could move a little so we can pass. Apparently, you are not supposed to look into their eyes. Few mins after that encounter, I dove face first into the cliff! Remember, I had asked you to remove my shoe so I could use my feet to climb back up? Hahaha! #folklore
By the way, THANK YOU for the phenomenal “pwet shot” and the love stories you and Marky shared with me ;p
