How long does it take to get our pet’s Local Transport Permit?
It took me about 30 minutes to apply 1 dog. This is from when I entered the building premises until I got out with the permit.
Note: I was a bit assertive for them to issue the permit as the officer was doing something else and I am thankful for her accommodating me even if she had was very busy.
There was also a lady before me so I waited for a while for me to be assisted.
This could take longer if there are more than one (1) animal being applied.
Do I have to be the owner of the pet to get the permit?
No. You do not have to be the owner to get the permit nor do you need to bring a letter of approval from the owner to get a permit.
Author’s Opinion: I think there should be a letter of approval from the owner of the pet to also lessen the risk of animal/pet theft. I was not the owner when I applied for the permit but I still got it.
Do I have to be the one shipping the pet to get the trael permit?
No. You do not have to be the one shipping/travelling with the pet to get the permit nor do you need an approval letter for the one travelling with the pet to process the permit application.
Aurthor’s Opinion: This should also be improved as the name of the shipper/traveller will be used.
Does the Bureau of Animal Industry have a number so we could ask more information?
Yes. Here’s their number written in the Local Tranport Permit (02) 928-2743 or (02) 928-2836.
Have a fun trip with your pets in the Philippines. 🙂
