If you’re travelling in Iligan City and suddenly had a craving for grilled chicken, fear not, Dear Manok is the place to be.
This is my favorite grilled chicken restaurant in my hometown and everytime we visit my brother and I require ourselves to eat in Dear Manok.
In Dear Manok you dine the real Filipino style, by using only your bare hands. No spoon, no fork, no chopsticks. But no worries if you’re not willing to put things on your own hands, there’s spoon and fork available upon request. (Think of eating pansit or halo-halo using bare hands)
Their specialty and my personal preference is their grilled chicken. Served on a wooden plate with a banana leaf, you’ll forget to wash your hands when it’s in front of you. But take control of your gastronomic endorphins and be sure to wash you hands well before eating.
Grilled Chicken
Dipping it in a mix of soy sauce, calamansi and sili labuyo, mix it with rice then add a little atsara all using only your hands. Just how a grilled chicken should be!
Chicken skin is my cousin’s favorite and she likes to dip it into the chili sauce provided. But I like it to be dipped in vinegar with garlic. It’s crunchy and tasty.

Enough of this! This post is making me hungier and travellier. Someone send me to Iligan City that I could eat the grilled chicken of Dear Manok again. It’s been a year since I ate here.
By the way, they have unlimited rice. π

Hi Gariza, I suggest that you visit Lai Mirasol’s travel blog – PinayTravelista.com. She knows more about Iligan than I do.
