10:38 AM – We were out of the gate of Dela Mar Resort (Timoga Cold Springs) in the outskirts of Iligan City. Our plan was to do a short walk to the Macaraeg-Macapagal Ancestral House. A very short walk, in fact it was just located beside the Dela Mar Resort.
10:40 AM – The gates of the Macaraeg-Macapagal Ancestral House were closed and I was afraid that it was closed for the day. But Lisa Marie went to the small gate and softly called out “Ayo. Ayo.” to get the attention of the people inside. Then a lady appeared and let us in.
After a brief hi and hello, she presented us their log book for us to register. There was a box for donation and we donated around 50 Pesos.
I won’t go into detail with this post on what can be found inside the compound, but I would like to tell you that this house was the home of two former presidents of the Philippines, Diosdado Macapagal and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. I think that was one of the reasons why it was declared as a Heritage House by the National Historical Institute.

Below are photos during our visit.
Going around, I liked how the house was designed. The inside of the house were a little cramped but I liked the large open veranda and the big grass lawn. I also enjoyed shouting in my head Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum in the playhouse.
11:18 PM – We got out of the gate of the compound and they locked the gate again. We then waved on a passing jeepney and rode it to get to Iligan City Proper. 12 Pesos/person (one-way).
11:38 PM – We got down around the vicinity of Jollibee Aguinaldo. Travel Time of 20 minutes.
We rode again a jeepney bound to Del Carmen to have lunch at Homebrew Cafe.
