After a week of going around Sibuyan Island and Cobrador Island we were now finally back in Romblon Island in the province of Romblon.
The truth is I was already tired from 7 days of moving and appreciating things from one place to another but I still have some strength left to push myself to ride a motorbike. I’m glad I did as this tour was one of the best in the province.
6:30 AM – Start of battle with the bed monster with its special move called ‘Super Ultra Electro Magnetic Force’ that made it effortful to get out of bed.
7:00 AM – Succesfully defeated the bed monster. Took a bath, breakfast then toothbrush.
7:45 AM – Dazzling Dazzle‘s friends, Raymond and Nots, arrived and they will be the driving the motorcycles while we take pictures.
8:00 AM – Start of motorcycle tour.
8:05 AM – Load 200 Pesos worth of fuel for the whole tour.
8:14 AM – Bonbon Sandbar
Bonbon Sandbar is an approximately 500 meter long sandbar that connects Bonbon Island to the island of Romblon. During low tide the whole sandbar can be walked to cross the islands. Unfortunately for us we arrived in Bonbon Sandbar during high tide.
According to the locals of Romblon the sand bar is always changing shape throughout the year.
8:43 AM – Left Bonbon Sandbar.
I forgot to record the time, but we stopped over on one of Dazl’s friends along the way.
9:46 AM – Romblon State University (RSU)
Frankly, there’s nothing to see here but don’t get me wrong. It’s true value doesn’t lie in what it looks like but on what is taught here.
9:47 AM – Left Romblon State University.
9:57 AM – Mangrove and Bird Sanctuary
This is a newly established sanctuary according to one of the volunteers we talked with. It was my first time to see mangroves in seedling bags and slowly being introduced to the water. I enjoyed taking pictures here. But they said that it is best to visit this place during the early morning or late in the afternoon when the birds are active.
10:13 AM – Left Mangrove and Bird Sanctuary
10:27 AM – The Big Rock
This was not in our itinerary of stop overs but the rock was just too tempting not to stop. It’s a big rock in the middle of nowhere with roots dangling.
10:29 AM – Left the Big Rock
10:35 AM – Apunan Point Lighthouse in Brgy. Agpanabat
We were welcomed by a black dog who aggressively barked at us. Then we needed permission to climb up the lighthouse, good thing we looked like good boys and girl as the caretaker allowed us to go up. The view below the lighthouse is being blocked by a lot of vegetation but the view from the lighthouse is awesome.
11:00 AM – Left Apunan Point Lighthouse
11:54 AM – Break at Brgy. Lamao
I was wondering why we stopped as I was excited to see our next stop but it turns out it was already nearing lunch time! So we had a stop and ordered some small snacks for our hunger to subside. But looking around there was a skeleton of a boat being built nearby and they were collecting pebbles of marble to be sold. Walking to the beach there’s also a small island nearby.
12:16 PM – Left the beach at Brgy. Lamao
12:26 PM – Brgy. Calabago Lighthouse
We were unfortunate not to go inside and climb the lighthouse as it was unmanned when we arrived. But it was still okay as the view from below is already magnificent.
12:29 PM – Left Brgy. Calabago Lighthouse
12:42 PM – Marble Factory
This is one of the main reasons why I wanted to visit Romblon Province. The world famous marbles. This is where I found out that marbles were very hard that cutters should have a diamond edge just to cut them. But due to the tile industry the marble industry went down.
12:50 PM – Left the Marble Factory
1:03 PM – Marble Carvers
On our way back to town we passed by marble carvers and we decided to stop by and take a look. It was amazing how big the marbles they were carving. There was a feet that they were carving that was bigger than me.
1:09 PM – Left the Marble Carvers
1:14 PM – Romblon National High School
There was a reunion going on when we went to the high school. I think that going around the high school is a much better alternative when touring than Romblon State University as the high school had big trees. But like I said, the schools value are not on what it looks but on what is taught there.
01:26 PM – Left Romblon National High School
01:39 PM – Romblon Capitol
I thought that our motorcycle tour would end in Romblon National High School as I was seriously hungry and the high school is already located inside town. But the motorcycles were moving away from town again! We went to Romblon Capitol where a park with a carving of Former President Ramon Magsaysay is located.
01:42 PM – Left Romblon Capitol
On our way back to town Nots pointed these 4 sculptures along the road outside the park. According to him there was a contest before where marble carvers would compete and these four were the result.
02:16 PM – LUUUNNNCCCHHH!!!
The pictures and narration on this post does not give justice to what I’ve seen during our motorcycle tour around the island of Romblon so to give more justice to the beauty of the island visit the Romblon Island Motorcycle Tour Album in Lakas ng Trip’s FB Page.
