Ever since I have started traveling I have been very picky with what gadgets I bring. Other than function, weight and size plays a huge factor on what I buy for my travels. So I’m very proud to present you some of the things that are really useful to me during my travels.
1. LED Flashlight
Off-the-beaten-path locations are awesome when there is daylight but is a nightmare at night when you are not equipped with a flashlight. I use an LED flashlight because of the following reasons
- Lightweight with a small rigid metallic body – Ideal for packing light and does not take much space in my pack.
- Longer battery life than a halogen flashlight – The LED flashlight that I have uses 3 AAA batteries and usually lasts for 3 travels I have that I heavily use the flashlight.
Price: 165 Pesos – 12 LED; 100 Pesos – 9 LED
Can be bought at: Ace Hardware, Handyman and sometimes in the streets of Quiapo and overpasses. It is cheaper when you buy them from peddlers in streets.
Additonal Note:
- When you turn on the flashlight and sometimes it turns on and sometimes it does not, it means that you should change your battery. Do not be like me who bought another one. O well, at least I can share a flashlight when I’m with someone. π

2. Triple Cube Adapter
Ever went to a coffee shop with your laptop and when you need to plug it in you found out that all the sockets are already taken by other customers? That also happens when you are in hostels and lodgings that only has a central charging station. That’s why I highly recommend travellers and laptop users to bring a Triple Cube Adapter.
If ever I need to plug in and there are no longer any electric sockets available, I ask for the people who already are using the sockets if I could remove their plugs for a second and insert the Triple Cube Adapter and put their plugs back again. Inserting the Triple Cube Adapter allows me to add 2 additional sockets for me to use and still have 1 socket for the person I removed the plug.
In terms of packing light, the Triple Cube Adapter is small that it is one of the things I pack last. I just find a small free space on my bag and I (forcefully) insert it there.

Why do I need to ask permission to remove the plug of others since I’m going to put their plugs back again? There are laptop users who has damaged batteries and removes them. I am one of them.
Price: 39.75 Pesos
Can be bought at: Ace Hardware, Handyman and on your local hardware shops.
Additional Note: Please do not insert the Triple Cube Adapter to another Triple Cube Adapter, it may cause an overload and can possibly start a fire. Octopus wiring.
By the way, I don’t bring my laptop during my travels. It’s bulky and it adds worries that would lessen my enjoyment on the places I visit.
3. 2 Liter Dry Bag
Everytime I ride boats, I always look for plastics where I could wrap my wallet and cellphone for them not to get wet. The plastic method is effective but not environment-friendly, that’s why I bought a 2 Liter Dry Bag so I could use it again and again on my travels.
Another advantage of Dry Bags to plastics is that it is not easily puncturable. I had this experience where the plastic had holes when I forcefully inserted it to my fully-packed bag, but with a drybag I have not experience having any holes in it.
You can also fold it to become really small so you can pack it on your bag without adding space. Good for packing light.
Price: 225 Pesos
Can be bought at: Different branches of Camp Sandugo
love this post! Ung dry bag ba pwede malagyan ng DSLR? I saw one but I dunno the brand. hehe. Ung LED flashlight ang wala ako hehe. π
Pwede po. Pero yung mga malalaking version yung pwede lagyan ng DSLR. π
that dry bag is really a life saver! π
It is! Ilang beses niya na niligtas yung mga gamit ko from getting wet. π
great tips! i like the dry bag… sandugo’s version is really cheap compared to other brands.. problem is, there are limited camp sandugo branches… ^_^ would you know which branch is nearest in Makati, except for Market Market? Thanks Josiah! π
Thanks Mervz! True! Nung nagtanong ako ng ibang brands nagulat talaga ako sa presyo. at totoo rin yung limited sandugo branches. Unfortunately, sa Market Market lang yung meron sa makati. I think the next closest one to makati is in Robinsons Galleria. Pero much convenient ang Khumbu sa trinoma if you’re planning to ride the MRT. π
Very useful. I already have a LED flashlight, a small one that can easily be put in my pocket. It’s very strong though. I’ll also buy a universal adaptor for my upcoming Euro trip. And yes, dry bag for my netbook and camera too! I can’t travel without them as I’be gone for more than 2 months!
Wow! God bless on your 2 Month Euro Trip Aleah. π
I should get a dry bag too! I still use plastic bags mainly because I feel like I HAVE to reuse them in some way. Haha.
haha ganyan din ako dati at sa mga panahon na nakakalimutan ko yung drybag ko dahil laging last-minute packer ako. π
san ba makabili ng drybag para sa drone?
Hi Alan, sorry no idea po ako. π
