On a yearly basis, thousands of tourists go to Palawan Island purely for its pristine beaches. They are some of the best in the world, after all. However, only a few people actually get the luxury of making the most of their time on the sand.
With only a few days set aside for a vacation, a sane person would want to squeeze as many activities and sights-to-see as they can within a matter of hours. A smart vacationer would opt to choose an accommodation where they can have the best of both worlds.
When in Palawan, stay away from busy downtown Puerto Princesa City. These days, its roads are almost as jampacked as every other city in the Philippines. It will take you a while to get to one place from another, and there is not even a beach in sight. Book a room at a resort by the beach instead. Here is a list of the island’s best:
1. BINGA BEACH RESORT (San Vicente Town)
The absolute best beach resort on the island of Palawan is a place only a few people have heard about. It is not yet fully operational as of this moment. And yet, there is already so much to rave about.
Like the Secret Paradise Resort & Turtle Sanctuary, Binga Beach Resort is also a San Vicente Town accommodation that boasts a private beach of its own. What Binga Beach Resort offers, however, is a different kind of beach-living experience.
At Binga Beach Resort, you are one with nature. There are no cold and lifeless hotel rooms here. Just personalized glamping units that welcome in the sea’s breeze.
While its long and uninterrupted stretch of white sand is its main attraction, there are also so many other things to do here. Its strategic location on the edge of Binga Bay and by the foothills of Mt. Capoas makes it the perfect basecamp for adventures both down below and up high.
There is a fleet of bangkas available for kayaking, and there are larger boats that can be hired to take you on a tour of the surrounding islands. Let down your anchor above some of the best diving spots around. A whole new world awaits under the water, and we swear that it is as dazzling, shimmering, and splendid as we make it sound.
It will take a lot of energy to go up to Mt. Capoas, the highest mountain there is in Northern Palawan. The guides at Binga Beach Resort have made the trip a thousand times, and they will make it look easy when it’s your turn to try.
Binga Beach Resort is less than an hour’s drive away from the newly opened San Vicente Airport. Wedged in between the north and central areas of the Island of Palawan, it is easily navigable whether you are coming from El Nido or Puerto Princesa.
2. MICROTEL BY WYNDHAM (Puerto Princesa City)
If you must stay within a considerable distance from the metropolitan city of Puerto Princesa, your best bet for accommodations with both convenience and a private stretch of white sand is at Microtel by Wyndham.
This hotel by the beach has been around even before the province of Palawan suddenly became everyone’s dream destination. It boasts a garden and a pool, as well as its own private beach.
This beach is exclusively the property of Microtel by Wyndham. It may not be lengthy, but it is serene. For a moment, you will forget that you are only 7 kilometers away from downtown Puerto Princesa itself.
Do not let the big name behind this resort scare you away. The rooms at Microtel by Wyndham all have their very own personal touches, and the entire vibe of the place is like a home.
There are only two floors to this boutique hotel. Each floor has about 20 rooms each. You are guaranteed your privacy here, and unlimited enjoyment of the beach is included in your stay.
3. DALUYON BEACH AND MOUNTAIN RESORT (Puerto Princesa City)
If the best of both worlds is what you are looking for, look no further than the Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort.
The name says it all! In this sanctuary, both the beach and the mountains are at your convenience.
The road to the famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is rocky at best. It is at least an hour and a half away from the center of the city itself. However, the end of the road is a place that is truly great. It leads to a long stretch of quiet sand and gentle waves.
Sabang Beach may be best known as the pick-up point for boats going to the Underground River but it is a must-go-to destination as well.
If you must stay at Sabang Beach, stay at the Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort. It is located on the northernmost end of the walkable Sabang Beach. It sits right beside a mangrove forest, and in between the mountain and the sea.
When here, you are free to call the entire stretch of Sabang Beach your own. Once you see the white sand directly in front of the resort, you may not want to explore anymore.
A guilt-free and luxurious experience is what the Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort has to offer. It has four stars to its name while also being environment-friendly and sustainable.
There is no need to go to downtown Puerto Princesa City if what you traveled to Palawan for is the beach, the sun, and the famous underground tunnel thousands stand in line for. You can just choose to stay at the Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort.
4. SHERIDAN BEACH RESORT AND SPA (Puerto Princesa City)
It is hard to believe you are still in Puerto Princesa City when you are in this beach resort and spa.
Meet the larger and more upscale counterpart of the first two resorts we have listed so far. Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa is a little more inland than its neighbor Daluyon, but it is much grander and seamlessly integrates a modern and sleek vibe to an otherwise sleepy hotel town.
Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa has many buildings with at least a hundred or so rooms in each. It has a pool that is so large in size that it makes its way across the entire resort area. It also has a small pocket of the beach only a few minutes away.
This is the first resort of its kind to lay its claim on Sabang Beach. Therefore, if you are looking for the real deal, this is it. Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa is the perfect getaway location that will take your breath away.
5. SECRET PARADISE RESORT & TURTLE SANCTUARY (San Vicente Town)
It is no secret that the Secret Paradise Resort & Turtle Sanctuary is one of the best beach accommodations around. It is far away from the main beach of Port Barton. It is also a sanctuary for more than just vacationers.
In the interest of all of the delicate wildlife in this area, the beachfront oasis of the Secret Paradise Resort & Turtle Sanctuary is the only thing you’ll see on San Vicente’s Agtap Beach.
This is a place you can’t just walk into without prior notice. Although it is not on a separate island of its own, it is not reachable by car. You have to take a 20-minute boat ride from the San Vicente town proper to get to this hidden spot.
Once you step foot on this resort’s shores, you will know that the plane ride, drive, and boat trip you took to get to the Secret Paradise Resort & Turtle Sanctuary was more than worth it.
The beach is not the only draw this resort has. It is a turtle sanctuary first and foremost. Guests here can take a dive and swim with the resort’s local underwater residents if they want.
There are two private coves on the premises of Secret Paradise Resort. You can take your pick as to which of the two you will settle in for the day. Should you tire of the blindingly white sand and the endless blue of the sea, you can go up the mountains right behind you. The resort’s guides can take you to one of the area’s many hidden waterfalls.
It is highly unlikely for Secret Paradise Resort to disappoint you. It is indeed one of the best beach resorts around. We are saving the best for last, though. And so, stick around.
Whatever adventure you opt for when you find yourself in Palawan, there is no better reward after going for it than laying under a coconut tree and above soft sand. These are things you can only do when you are a guest at a beach resort.
Make every moment of your vacation count. We have given you the list of the ultimate best beach resorts on the island. Choose wisely when you come to town.
