“San mo gusto pumunta?” Tito Willy asked.
It was morning of the second day of my overnight trip to Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro. I don’t have the luxury of time for the white river rafting due to my flight in the afternoon and my budget was running low.
Hesitantly I suggested “Ostrich farm tayo Tito.” I’ve been to zoos and only found ostriches interesting when I first saw them. Who am I to complain? I had too many limitations. So off we went to the Philippine Ostrich and Crocodile Farms, Inc in Malanang, Opol, Misamis Oriental.
A vast land with metal fences and inside were ostriches. Just as I thought. Boring.
Then an event unbored the trip. I met my new playmates.
The security guard asked if I wanted to see ostrich eggs. Up to that point of my life never had I seen an ostrich egg nor had I felt them so I said yes.
Woah! It was that big!
Playmate #1: The Ostrich Egg
The security guard suggested a few activities that I could do with the egg and I also pitched in some of my ideas to play with my new playmate. With our powers combined I present to you The 5 Activities You Can Do With The Ostrich Egg.
Activity #1
Stand on them with one leg
Activity #2
Alamin kung gaano katigas ang ulo mo
Activity #3
Open the egg by using a drill
Activity #4
Juggle the egg with a basketball
Activity #5 (my personal favorite)
Challenge the mother ostrich to see who's the faster runner
Playmate #2: The Chick Ostrich
An adult ostrich is tall, that’s a fact.
But when they are young, are they cute like humans? I thought they were also raising chickens in the farm. Woops! I was wrong. The ostrich chick were just as large as an adult poultry chicken.
The fence were only 10 inches high
You cannot go inside the adult ostrich’s fence since they kick and peck that could lead injuries. But can I go inside the young ostriches fence? I asked the security guard if we could get inside and get personal with the chicks. He said yes (Oh yeah!) and off we go.
Back to the question, were they cute? YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
My cousin, Nico, holding a 1-2 week old ostrich
They’re like hamsters when you hold them, so cute that you want to crush them.
Not unless they become 6 weeks old where their cuteness will not be worth crushing.

There are other products at the ostrich farm that you may find interesting. Better go there if you want to find out. 😉
Dear Ostrich Egg,
I will be back. With more activities. 🙂

I also like to travel a lot. question? nde ba masisira ang ostrich sa loob ng egg pag ginalaw galaw sya? 😕
Sayang, dapat pala nilaro ko rin ang mga eggs when I was there…hehe.. 🙂
Sayang! dibali may rason ka na para bumalik. 🙂
LOL. di pa mapapano ang ostrich egg if you shake them? di maaalog ang nasa loob nya?
Are they offering that king of activity?
Hi Kathleen, nung nandun po ako wala po silang ino-offer na ganon.
