10 Reasons to stay in Sea Cocoon Hotel, El Nido, Palawan

August 8, 2016 by Josiah Leave a Comment

If you are still thinking where to stay in El Nido then I would highly suggest that you consider staying in Sea Cocoon Hotel. We stayed here last June 2016 for 2 nights and so far this is the highest quality of hotel that I have stayed in El Nido, Palawan.

Here are some of the reasons why I would recommend staying in Sea Cocoon Hotel.

Comfortable rooms at @SeaCocoonHotel. Spacious. Clean. Aircon was running well. Breakfast was generous. Staff were really helpful. Good water pressure. Lovely Chow Chow Dogs. #SeaCocoon #SeaCocoonHotel #ElNido #Palawan #Philippines

1. Quality rooms

The hotel’s motto is ‘Comfort is our pride’ and they take pride on it by providing guests with rooms that are comfortable, spacious, clean and everything that I want in a hotel was in it.

We were inside our room most of our stay. When we went on a tour it was a really nice to just get inside a clean and comfortable room after a tiring day.

Review: Pillows Hotel in Cebu City, Philippines

January 14, 2016 by Josiah Leave a Comment

We were checking out of The Maxwell Hotel and we still have a good 2 nights before our flight out of Cebu. We were looking for something new and unique and when we checked Agoda, Pillows Hotel was just the right type of hotel we were looking for. So we booked and on the same day showed up in their front desk.

Pillows Hotel Experience

We rode a taxi from The Maxwell Hotel to Pillows Hotel. We could have just walked it but I was nursing a flu and was bringing a heavy backpack so we decided to take the easier route.

Upon arrival, we went to the front desk and was quickly asked how they could help us. We told the reception that we have a reservation via Agoda and was told to wait as they verify and arrange the documents. After less than 5 minutes the staff came back to us and told us that they have verified our reservation and the room was now ready.

Matutinao Beach Resort in Badian, Cebu, Philippines

January 6, 2016 by Josiah 8 Comments

We decided that we needed to stay at Badian, Cebu a night before our Cebu Canyoneering activity since we knew that it will be a tiring activity. We asked for referrals with Kawasan Canyoneering if there is any place where we could stay for the night and they recommended Matutinao Beach Resort. They also gave the number of the resort, so we got in contact with them, reserved a room and enjoyed our stay. Not only is Matutinao Beach Resort a beach front resort, it is also the starting point of the Cebu Canyoneering, which is a really good for us.

Update August 21, 2018: There have been a lot of improvements in Matutinao Beach Resort. You can visit their Facebook Page to see the updated details.

Journey to Matutinao Beach Resort from Moalboal

12:05 PM After our beacheneering at White Beach in Moalboal, we were now riding a bus to Badian, Cebu. We told the bus conductor to drop us off at Matutinao Beach Resort. Luckily, he knows where that is so we could relax a bit on our bus ride.

12:30 PM (Travel Time 25 minutes, Fare 20 Pesos/person) The bus stopped what seems to be a really huge parking lot with a modern church. And then it started again, habal-habal drivers came flocking at us asking if we were doing the Canyoneering Activity. We just told them that we already had reservations with Kawasan Canyoneering ang Matutinao Beach Resort and they all dispersed.

On my three times visit to Batad in Banaue, Ifugao this is the second time that I stayed in Simon’s Viewpoint Inn.

My first visit last 2009 in Batad Simon’s made a good impression on me that I wanted to stay here when I get back to Batad.

On my second visit, a friend of mine arranged the trip so I left the decision making to her and she arranged us to stay at Hillside Inn.

On my third visit (which is this visit) I was able to stay in Simon’s again.

Why did I go back?

Mainly because of all the view in Batad, Simon’s is one of the best views to see the Batad Rice Terraces. Imagine I get to see a great view from sunrise to sunset.

But let me be more detailed on why I love staying at Simon’s Viewpoint.

Expense Report: Batad, Hungduan & Banaue Trip last June 2015

Walking in Hapao Rice Terraces in Hungduan, Ifugao, Philippines

Originally, our plan was just to visit Batad and some viewpoints of Banaue Rice Terraces but destiny had other plans for us as we also went to Hungduan. Together with Lai of PinayTravelista.com and Kuya Dane, my brother, it was a perfect vacation with imperfect logistics and imperfect events.

Two weeks before the trip Kuya Dane was asking me to provide the itinerary and budget for our travel, unfortunately, for the past months I have been too busy to create our budget and itinerary. All I can say that time was the budget was 5,000 Pesos per person and we are leaving on the night of June 11 and arriving in the early morning of June 15.

In the end the budget was not followed, so did the planned dates for our travel. The details of these unfortunate events will not be written on this post as it will be too long to write them all here.
