Notes

  • According to the staff of PPUR Office they now have an allotment of 100 slots solely for walk-in visitors. This makes the success of getting a permit through walk-in or do-it-yourself higher.
  • If you’re planning to do the walk-in to get the PPUR permit it is best that you visit the PPUR Office as soon as you get to Puerto Princesa.
  • There’s a higher probability of success if you schedule your visit to the PPUR on Monday to Thursday and avoid holidays.

I hope this helps when you visit the Underground River when you Do-It-Yourself.

Disclaimer

These are the information I got from my recent visit to the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) Office at the City Coliseum. The details here may not be updated. It is better to contact the PPUR Office directly for the updated way on how you can get a permit.

Update Log

December 08, 2012
  • Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) Office is no longer located near Badjao Inn. They already moved to the City Coliseum.
  • El Nido ETDF and Accommodation receipts from Port Barton are no longer honored. Staying overnight in Sabang is also no longer honored. The only way now to get a permit is to visit the PPUR Office at the City Coliseum.

This post is part of my 12 for 2012 Travel Project which aims to document places in the Philippines to help travellers.

Feeling the Love on El Nido Island Hopping Tour

El Nido, Palawan Island Hopping Details

  • Things to Bring

If you have read about my 300 Pesos per night lodging at El Nido, Palawan then you already know that I went to El Nido without researching about the place.

El Nido is famous for its island hopping. Being alone and having a limited budget I was afraid that I would not be able to do Island Hopping. Fortunately, the Department of Tourism in El Nido had a solution for this. All the rates of the tours are on a per person basis.

What tour operators in El Nido do is that they group different travellers on boats so that it would not be too expensive to rent one whole boat making all types of travelers happy. With my very affordable lodging and their payment scheme for island hopping, I now certify El Nido, Palawan as a Solo Traveler friendly place.

What’s the worst thing to happen to a solo single traveller during a island hopping tour? It’s to be grouped with two people who are on their honeymoon!

With the newly weds

With the newly weds

Yes, they were sweet. Yes, I did feel their love for each other. And yes, our bangkeros were teasing me that I should get a partner for my trips. LOL!

Moving on, let me show you some of the pictures why I would recommend El Nido, Palawan as a solo traveller destination and also a honeymooners destination.
