Cagayan de Oro

Review: Red Planet Cagayan de Oro

February 19, 2017 by Josiah Leave a Comment

We were looking for a staycation in Cagayan de Oro City since we wanted to be somewhere away from the usual routine but do not want to go far away from Iligan City. When we checked Agoda, Red Planet Cagayan de Oro turned out to be an affordable accommodation that was just walking distance from malls. Very convenient for a staycation and we decided to book our stay there.

Book a cheaper stay in Red Planet Cagayan de Oro here.

Below is my review of Red Planet Cagayan de Oro.

Circa 1850 Restaurant in Red Planet, Cagayan de Oro City

February 5, 2017 by Josiah 2 Comments

It was a slow morning of January 2017 when we stayed at Red Planet in Cagayan de Oro City. Since we wanted to take the day slow we decided to have our breakfast at Circa 1850 because it located at the first floor entrance of Red Planet. And that breakfast was followed by dinner and breakfast the next day.

Before going down we decided to bring our laptops so that after breakfast we would proceed to work in the hopes of having good ambience and fast WiFi. I am happy to say that Circa 1850 Eatery has its own WiFi and it was really fast.

Let us move on to what really matters about Circa 1850.

Ambience

In terms of ambience Circa 1850 was really classy. Wooden tables and chairs with bricks on the walls. I loved it! I am a fan of wood and bricks.

Also the distance of each chair was really roomy which gave a really good feeling since you would not be wary of hitting the other table. Or when you stand you don’t have to worry too much that you would interrupt other tables when heading to the comfort room.

Super Five Bus at the quick stop at Laguindingan Intersection

I was born in Iligan City. And ever since our family moved to Manila, I’ve been constantly traveling the route of Iligan City to Cagayan de Oro City (CDO). As far as my memory can remember, I’ve been riding Super Five even when I was still attending school.

So when I came back to Iligan City last May 24 to June 3, 2014 I rode with them again.

Below are 3 short stories of what I experienced on their routes.

  • Cagayan de Oro to Iligan City
  • Iligan City to Cagayan de Oro
  • Iligan City to Laguindingan International Airport (LIA)
  • Laguindinan Airport to Iligan/CDO (Notes only)

Additional Notes

  • Leg room
  • Seat Incline
  • Iligan City Terminal
  • Cagayan de Oro Terminal

“San mo gusto pumunta?” Tito Willy asked.

It was morning of the second day of my overnight trip to Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro. I don’t have the luxury of time for the white river rafting due to my flight in the afternoon and my budget was running low.

Hesitantly I suggested “Ostrich farm tayo Tito.” I’ve been to zoos and only found ostriches interesting when I first saw them. Who am I to complain? I had too many limitations. So off we went to the Philippine Ostrich and Crocodile Farms, Inc in Malanang, Opol, Misamis Oriental.

A vast land with metal fences and inside were ostriches. Just as I thought. Boring.

Then an event unbored the trip. I met my new playmates.

The security guard asked if I wanted to see ostrich eggs. Up to that point of my life never
