Expense Report: Batad, Hungduan & Banaue Trip last June 2015

June 19, 2015 by Josiah 10 Comments
Walking in Hapao Rice Terraces in Hungduan, Ifugao, Philippines

Originally, our plan was just to visit Batad and some viewpoints of Banaue Rice Terraces but destiny had other plans for us as we also went to Hungduan. Together with Lai of PinayTravelista.com and Kuya Dane, my brother, it was a perfect vacation with imperfect logistics and imperfect events.

Two weeks before the trip Kuya Dane was asking me to provide the itinerary and budget for our travel, unfortunately, for the past months I have been too busy to create our budget and itinerary. All I can say that time was the budget was 5,000 Pesos per person and we are leaving on the night of June 11 and arriving in the early morning of June 15.

In the end the budget was not followed, so did the planned dates for our travel. The details of these unfortunate events will not be written on this post as it will be too long to write them all here.

Budget Guide: How much did I spend on my 4th time in El Nido, Palawan

April 10, 2013 by Josiah 16 Comments

What’s the difference between my first time in El Nido, Palawan and my fourth time there?

  1. I travelled solo on my first time to El Nido. On my fourth time I joined fellow Pinoy Travel Bloggers Paula and Marx, even met with Suzette and Brenna.

  2. First time I was on a really tight budget. On my fourth time I was deprived of all the oily goodness of pizza, pasta and sisig therefore I somehow had a bigger budget to splurge for food and accommodation.
  3. I only did island hopping on my first time. On my fourth time I also did island hopping plus I watched the sunset at the beach at Brgy. Corong-Corong and went to the beautiful Nacpan and Calitang Twin Beach.
  4. I only travelled by public van on my first time. On my fourth time I even get to try Daytripper Palawan‘s big van.

In summary, I had a bigger budget to spend on my fourth time in El Nido, Palawan.

How much did I spend on my trip to the Tabon Caves of Quezon, Palawan

November 12, 2012 by Josiah 2 Comments

Even when I have not started to travel on my own, I’ve known of the existence of Palawan since I was in elementary school. Not because of the dive sites of Coron, the limestone cliffs of El Nido nor the Underground River of Puerto Princesa but because of the pre-historical Tabon Caves of Quezon, Palawan.

Unfortunately, when I was still going to school I never had any interest in history. I only cared about my daily allowance, 50 centavo candies, Bazooka Bubble Gum Comics, 1 Peso junk food and many more unsanctioned by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) extra curricular activities such as sago shooting, patintero and cartoon watching (i.e. Shaider, Daimos, Zenki, Dog of Flanders, Power Rangers, etc.).

I was never fond of cutting classes even if I’m not interested in school before. Now that I think about it, maybe I treat my teachers as friends who are sharing their problems (daily). I don’t have to do anything, I just needed to be there and listen, and somewhere along the way I’ll learn or pick up something. And I did pick something, a seed of curiousity that made me want to visit the prehistoric Tabon Caves that was nourished by my passion for travel.

How much did I spend on our overnight trip to Bataan

June 13, 2012 by Josiah 24 Comments

I was looking for a quick overnight trip to the beach and was asking friends on where I could go, but here’s the catch, I only had 1,000 Pesos for my budget inclusive of transportation, food and lodging. I asked the fun and bubbly Maui of The Travelure about my dilemma and she was challenged. So I formally challenged her to join me on my 1,000 Peso overnight challenge which she valiantly accepted.

The problem now was where to go. When I was planning for the January leg of my 12 for 2012 Travel Project, I moved the location from Bataan to Bolinao and Alaminos, Pangasinan because I found Bataan too expensive. With my dilemma I went back at my Bataan notes and tried to roughly plan again, removing the expensive must-see places in Bataan. It was then conclusive that it was possible to do an overnight backpacking trip to Bataan for a thousand Pesos.

On the early morning of June 10, 2012 we embarked on a journey that I called Bataan 1,000 Peso 2-Day Challenge. See below the list of what we did and how much our expenses were on the trip.
