Dalipuga Falls in Iligan City, Philippines

Dalipuga Falls.

It was only 3 days left for me to leave Iligan City and knowing that it has a lot of waterfalls I wanted to visit as many as I can. I remembered when we did Pampam Falls and Kalubihon Falls that we missed one waterfall due to the arriving rain. So we quickly decided that the next day we would visit that waterfall, Dalipuga Falls.

9:30 AM – We decided to meet again at Jollibee Aguinaldo. First we had a short breakfast and we started walking to Gaisano Mall to ride a Dalipuga bound jeepney.

10:19 AM – The jeepney started moving to Dalipuga and we told the driver to drop us off at the intersection going to Dalipuga Gym. We paid 15 Pesos/person (one-way).

10:48 AM – We arrived at the intersection going to Dalipuga Gym (29 minutes travel time). Interestingly it was the next intersection to the intersection going to Pampam Falls and Kalubihon Falls.

There were pedicabs (bicycles with side carts) waiting in line on the road. Locally, they are called sikad.

We asked one the sikad drivers to take us to Dalipuga Falls. When they heard that we were heading to Dalipuga Falls there were offers coming from other sikad drivers to guide us up to the waterfall. We declined their offer and just concentrated on talking to our driver.

We rode the sikad and since I grew horizontally we were barely able to fit in one sit.

After a jeep, a habal-habal and a trek through the coconut plantations of Dalipuga we arrived at this waterfall. Our first waterfall for the day. Pampam Falls #Iligan City #Mindanao #Philippines #TravelPH

11:10 AM – Alex, Lisa Marie and I met at Jollibee Aguinaldo in Iligan City. Our plan that day was to do some waterfalling (waterfalls hopping) to Pampam Falls and Kalubihon Falls in Brgy. Dalipuga. If we still have time we could also visit Dalipuga Falls.

We then walked to Gaisano Mall and rode a jeepney bound for Dalipuga, but we had to make a slow stop at Jacko’s Kan-anan to get a taste of their Seafood Platter.

After the lunch we rode a gain a jeep bound for Dalipuga.

12:45 PM – The jeep was now moving to Dalipuga and we told the driver to drop us off at the intersection to Kalubihon Falls. Fare was 15 Pesos/person.

Dam, Dalipi River and DENR Substation at Magdiwang, Sibuyan Island, Romblon

February 26, 2013 by Josiah Leave a Comment

After warming up on the hiking tour of Sanctuary Garden Resort in Magdiwang, Sibuyan Island, Romblon we decided to do what the lady on the restaurant suggested to hike to the DENR Sibuyan Substation passing by a dam and Dalipi River. We first asked some of the staff there on how we could go to the places, they told us a series of complex directions and waypoints that I easily disremembered. They also suggested that we could hire a guide for 500 Pesos to accompany us, unfortunately, we were going low on funds. Good thing that Dazl and Jessica was here. But if all else fail there’s still the option of wearing my clothes inside-out to catch the locals attention and ask them for directions.

I thought that the Dam would be more than a couple of hundred meters away from Sanctuary Garden Resort but it was just less than 100 meters away. The clear waters from the Dam and the people already swimming on it was really inviting! I wanted to swim but I can’t as we still needed to continue walking. I thought that maybe I could go back later in the afternoon after our hiking trip to take a dip at the cool waters of the dam. But that did not happen.
