How to get there

Getting to Port Barton from the Poblacion of San Vicente, Palawan

  • Port Barton to Poblacion of San Vicente
  • Poblacion of San Vicente to Port Barton

After our trip to Boayan Island we planned to move to Port Barton next. There are no direct roads that links the two barangays. We have 2 options either we take the van going to Roxas then ride the jeep there or wait for the boat coming from Port Barton to arrive and wait again for it to go back to Port Barton.

Port of Poblacion, San Vicente

It was already 10:30AM when we arrived at the Poblacion from Boayan Island. The jeep leaves to Port Barton from Roxas at around 11AM and Roxas is still a good 2 hours away. Facing facts, it’s not possible if we do that route. So all we had to do was wait for more than 4 hours until the boat going to Port Barton leaves. It was a long wait, but we decided to eat the waiting away. Below are instructions on how to get to Port Barton from Poblacion of San Vicente and vice versa. If you’re staying in Port Barton and you want to visit the Longest Beach in the Philippines for a day trip, this post may help you. Port Barton to Poblacion By Boat There’s a boat that leaves around 9AM from Port Barton that will head to the Poblacion of San Vicente. The schedule is not that clear so it would be better if you coordinate with the Tourist Assitance Center to know the schedule. The name of the boat is Magdalena. Fare is 100 Pesos per person for locals and 150 Pesos per person for foreigners. Travel time is approximately 1 hour.

The Magdalena at Poblacion of San Vicente

If the schedule is not fit for your schedule you can hire a boat with the boatmans under the Tourist Assistance Center. Usual price is 1,500 Pesos for 4 pax but prices are negotiable. Travel time is approximately 1 hour.

Long Beach in San Vicente, Palawan

March 26, 2012 by Josiah 10 Comments

The first time that I went to Long Beach in San Vicente, Palawan I did not know what the name of the beach was called neither did I know that it was the longest beach here in the Philippines. The part of Long Beach that I first went to was in Alimanguan. A town at the northern side of San Vicente, Palawan which was formerly famous for its many crabs or in tagalog alimango.

We went there, the children swam in the waters while us young at heart went fishing on the shore with the use of a lambat, just like the pukot in Baler, Aurora but on a smaller scale. Then we got back to a friends house and ate grilled fish and kinilaw. The day ended with me having a full stomach and new friends. The second time was just last week and was only a short visit at the middle of Long Beach. We rode a motorcycle going to the middle of Long Beach which took us 20 minutes. Though Long Beach boasts of white sand, when we went there it was more colored like dirty white sand.

What I like about Long Beach is that it has fine sands that it becomes compact and according to Val the sand was as fine same as the sands of Boracay. (Have not been to Boracay yet.) Maybe, that’s the reason why the locals call it ‘the next Boracay’.

Waterfalls in Sabang, Puerto Princesa, Palawan

My brother and I was going through the different lodgings at the western side of Sabang in Brgy Cabayugan when a dog stopped us from reaching Alpuerto. We then asked for help on the nearby house and a little guy helped subside the anger of the dog. He then offered to guide us to Sabang Waterfalls.

Brother suggested that since we were on this side of Sabang we might as well visit the falls to conserve our time and energy. He also encouraged me to hire the boy offering to guide us so he could have an additional money for his schooling. So we asked the boy to accompany us to the falls, which did a good favor for us as he knew a lot about the place.

The boy’s name was Marvin, he was 12 years old and still going to school. Good!

As we reached Alpuerto Resort, Kuya Marvin asked us to register before continuing to the waterfalls. According to him this is to monitor how many people are going in and out of the falls. We are also required to log-out when we get back.

We continued and not far from the resort there’s a Buddhist temple.

After taking picture inside of the temple we proceeded to walk on the rocky shore. This reminded me of the rocky walk to the lighthouse of Capones Island in Zambales.

There’s also some teachings of Buddha on the way.
