Basco Lighthouse and Naidi Hill in Basco, Batan Island, Batanes

After our visit from Vayang Rolling Hills our van went to the top of Naidi Hill where the Basco Lighthouse is located.

Basco Lighthouse was constructed on March 2003 to help on the navigation for local fisherman and ships and a the same time for tourists to visit.

By the way, this tour was the Batan Island Tour by Wakay  Tours where we get to appreciate lots of places in Batan Island.

Here is what happened during our visit to the lighthouse.

11:51 AM We arrived at Basco Lighthouse

6 minutes travel time by van from Vayang Rolling Hills.

It was still drizzling when we arrived at Basco Lighthouse but that did not stop us from visiting. In Batanes where there is a drizzle there is wind and it was fun and challenging, especially when you can’t stabilize your camera when holding it up in the air.

Here is a photo of a sign which tells the history of Basco Lighthouse.

There’s a wide area with benches where you can sit and look at the lighthouse or Batanes Bay.

Pacsafe Store at Glorietta 5, Makati City

July 25, 2016 by Josiah 5 Comments

I was a victim of having my phone stolen from my bag during a jeepney ride. It was one of those events that I do not want to experience again. The lost contact numbers and messages and some important memories through photos were gone instantly and bitterly. I was lucky that I do not have an emergency that time. But what if losing something inside my bag means losing time to process getting new IDs, bank cards or losing your job or much worse. These what ifs are my reason why I love Pacsafe products, because they care for you and your belongings. With their products I can #GoFearless during my travels and daily commutes.

I was really happy when I learned that Pacsafe opened their store in Glorietta 5, Makati City. I usually see their products in shops mixed with other brands but this is the first time I saw a store dedicated only to their bags and accessories. In fact this is their first store in the world!

I was surprised how diversified their products are. They have products for urban setting, adventure travelers and for leisure.

Canopy Walk in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines

July 1, 2016 by Josiah 1 Comment

It was a lazy Wednesday when we decided to try something new in El Nido. I have always been curious about the flyers and posters green and yellow that says El Nido Taraw via Ferrata across town. We decided to try it that afternoon. Locally known as El Nido Canopy Walk.

What does via ferrata mean? Here’s the definition from Guide Dolomoti.

The via Ferrata (Italian for “iron way”) is a mountain route equipped with steel cables, ladders, and other fixed anchors, for example wooden walkways and suspended bridges. The artificial equipment renders feasible an exposed route even to the inexperienced climber, and allows those not versed in climbing technique to hike on ledges, climb vertical walls, and reach the peaks of mountains.

Note: The locals do not actually call this place ‘El Nido Taraw via Ferrata’ or ‘via Ferrata’. It is known locally as Canopy Walk. So if you’re inquiring about this use the term ‘Canopy Walk’.

3:40 PM The walk to the Canopy Walk

From our very comfortable accommodation at Sea Cocoon Hotel, we walked to the entrance of the Canopy Walk with some sidetrips to the stores for some water and snacks.
