This post is part 1 of 3 of our 3-waterfall, 1-day adventure in Iligan City.
- Part 1: Maria Crisitina Falls
- Part 2: Tinago Falls
- Part 3: Mimbalot Falls
- How much did I spend on that day?
The plan was to meet at Jollibee Aguinaldo (our favorite meeting point) in Iligan City, have lunch there and start visiting the 3 waterfalls that we had planned for that day – Maria Cristina Falls, Tinago Falls and Mimbalot Falls.
Since each waterfall has many details I would create blog post for each waterfall to cover all the details that I know about them. This blog post concentrates on Maria Cristina Falls.
12:00 NN – We met at Jollibee Aguinaldo and ate lunch there. After this we walked to the intersection of Araneta Street and Roxas Avenue as the Buru-un bound jeepney will pass by.
12:53 PM – We got inside the jeepney bound for Buru-un. We told the conductor that we were heading to Maria Cristina Falls, he replied “NPC” and we said yes. We paid him 11 Pesos/person for our trip going there.
NPC means National Power Corporation. Maria Cristina Falls is located inside the compound of Agus VI Hydroelectric Power Plant. And I will sound like an encyclopedia if I continue with this.
1:09 PM – We got down the jeep at the intersection of the National Highway and the road going to NPC and started walking to the entrance of the compound of the Hydroelectric Power Plant. Jeepney travel time was 16 minutes.
While walking a habal-habal driver went to us and offered us to drive us to Tinago Falls and bring us back. He offered 350 Pesos which includes a short visit to Mimbalot Falls. We told him that we were going to think about it first and we’ll call him when we have decided. Then we continued our walk.
1:16 PM – We arrived at the entrance of the power plant. Around 7 minutes walk from the highway. We then registered and paid the entrance fees.
- 35 Pesos/person – Entrance Fee
- 10 Pesos/person – Vehicle Ride, but we had to pay 50 Pesos for this as we are only 2 persons and the minimum number of persons/group is 5 persons.
From the last time that I was here they have made significant improvements since my visit there last 2010.
