Villa Escudero with our Grandfather in Tiaong, Quezon

February 9, 2017 by Josiah Leave a Comment

My grandfather visited us last Christmas Holidays and my brother and I decided to visit Villa Escudero to spend some quality time with our Lolo. Since my grandfather is around 85 years old we decided that we needed to rent a private vehicle (3,500 Pesos per 8 hours, rate does not include fuel) so that we could stop whenever my grandfather wanted to.

We spent one of the last days of the year spending time with our grandfather in Villa Escudero. He enjoyed the buffet lunch along the stream with the view of this waterfall and the cultural show. I hope this 2017 you will be able to connect with your family and friends, accomplish more things and be more awesome than you were last 2016. Happy New Year Everyone! #HappyNewYear #VillaEscudero #Quezon #Philippines #TravelPhilippines

Reservation

We were worried that there might be a limited number of slots for the daytrip at Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort so we decided to do a reservation online via Credit Card (villaescudero.com). My brother and I payed in full (1,600 Pesos/person) while my grandfather gets to have the Senior Citizen Discount.

Since we were going there on a holiday and peak season we were paying the 1,600 Pesos/person rate. Unlike when going there on a non-peak season and on a weekday, which has the lowest rate of 950 Pesos.

Tumalog Falls in Oslob, Cebu, Philippines

January 9, 2016 by Josiah 5 Comments

Initially, Tumalog Falls was not part of our itinerary. It was only added when we were researching about the Whale Shark Watching of Oslob that we encountered the really amazing waterfalls. When we researched, it turns out to be Tumalog Falls. The first time I saw the pictures of Tumalog Falls I knew that I had to go there and we did.

Upon arrival at MB’s Sunrise View Resort from our earlier adventure up Osmeña Peak, we decided to have lunch first and take a nap. It was set that we were visiting Tumalog Falls start 3 PM.

Batad Rice Terraces & Tappiya Waterfalls in Batad, Banaue, Ifugao

  • Batad Guide Rates

On my first visit to Batad I was only around 140 Pounds and I learned how much muscle aches my body could achieve. On my second visit I brought along an additional weight of 20 pounds in the form of muscle and body fat (mostly body fat) and my muscle ached to the point that I think that fat aches also exist.

On my third visit to Batad, I added 50 pounds from my previous visit because I can. If you think about it, my body is like a barbell bar which I could add weights to it. I’m weirdly cool like that.

The original plan was just to visit the Highest Viewpoint of Batad Rice Terraces and the next day we would visit Tappia Falls because I do not want to abruptly stress my body from the additional weight. When my brother heard that we could still head to Hapao Rice Terraces if we visit Tappia Waterfalls on the same day, he encouraged us to do everything we can in Batad and move on to another destination the next day. And that was when we did not follow my workout schedule.

8:27 AM We arrived at our accommodation in Batad – Simon’s Viewpoint Inn and ordered the tasty Porkchop with Rice for breakfast (highly recommended). We decided over breakfast that we would start our trek around Batad at 1:00 PM so that we could still get enough sleep and have lunch before the trek.

Going around Batad Rice Terraces and Tappia Falls

12:00 NN We decided not to have lunch since we did not really do anything but sleep. Got ready for the trek and asked for a guide from the Batad Tourist Information Center to guide us to 3 main points of Batad Rice Terraces.

  • Highest Viewpoint
  • Tappia Waterfalls
  • Main Village

Guide fee is 800 Pesos/guide for the three points of interest above.

Expense Report: Batad, Hungduan & Banaue Trip last June 2015

Walking in Hapao Rice Terraces in Hungduan, Ifugao, Philippines

Originally, our plan was just to visit Batad and some viewpoints of Banaue Rice Terraces but destiny had other plans for us as we also went to Hungduan. Together with Lai of PinayTravelista.com and Kuya Dane, my brother, it was a perfect vacation with imperfect logistics and imperfect events.

Two weeks before the trip Kuya Dane was asking me to provide the itinerary and budget for our travel, unfortunately, for the past months I have been too busy to create our budget and itinerary. All I can say that time was the budget was 5,000 Pesos per person and we are leaving on the night of June 11 and arriving in the early morning of June 15.

In the end the budget was not followed, so did the planned dates for our travel. The details of these unfortunate events will not be written on this post as it will be too long to write them all here.

Maqueregaen Falls in Roxas, Palawan, Philippines

March 14, 2015 by Josiah Leave a Comment

The two goals for that day were (1) get to Maqueregaen Falls and (2) go back home.

Maqueregaen Falls in Roxas, Palawan

Maqueregaen Falls in Roxas, Palawan

It was 7:35 AM and our motorcycle was turning to left from the National Highway towards the inner parts of Brgy. Iraan in Roxas, Palawan. We were already running around 20 minutes heading north from the town proper of Roxas. On the rough road as fast as we could, we passed by wooden bridges and some children walking to school. Always picking the road on the left upon encountering forks until we reached the nipa hut where our friends were waiting.

The house where our friends were waiting for us.

It was around the summer of 2014 that we planned to visit Maqueregaen Falls. We never really had a concrete plan to visit here due to our busy schedules, but finally late January 2015 we were able to decide on what date we should proceed. And when the last monday of February 2015 came, we almost forgot that this trip existed, but it was all thanks to my friends that we still came here as this was already a set plan and everyone was excited to see a new waterfalls around the area.

We still waited for our other friends to arrive and finally at around 8:35 AM we started walking. Asking around I thought one of us have been there already, but it turns out that my friends who has lived for more than a decade in Roxas have not seen the waterfalls.
