I have had this idea way before in college. I would like to do long distance walks but now that I am a blogger and a photography enthusiast, I now would like to do Long Distance Photowalks and then I can share you my experience.
What happened that you thought about it seriously now?
Two of my hobbies are running and mountain hiking but I am currently nursing an aching knee so I cannot run and hike that much. What I do as an alternative is walking. And after watching the movie Book of Eli the idea came back to me because the character walked for 30 years. So now I will fulfill my long lost dream of doing long distance walks.
What routes are you planning to do long distance walking?
- EDSA from Monumento to Mall of Asia
- Sumulong Highway – From Masinag to Antipolo Church
- Marcos Highway – From Masinag to Sampaloc, Tanay then to Daranak Falls
- Kenon Road – From the other end of Kenon Road to Baguio City
- Perimeter of Batanes
- Banaue to Mount Polis to Bontoc to Sagada
- Palawan from north to south8.
- Whole Philippines – Basco to Jolo
I’ll update this list when an idea comes up to mind.
You could get mugged, acquire lung cancer or skin cancer!!!
Last month a garbage truck lost its breaks and rammed into the house of our neighbour. Anything can happen, it could have been our house and I may have been on the other side of the wall making me dead and disabled to pursue my dreams. My house is as safe as the outside world. And just like when I am inside the house, I would still take precautionary methods to avoid getting mugged or getting hit by a vehicle when I do long distance walking.
As for lung cancer, I do agree that I may acquire it because of the pollution of where I will walk, especially EDSA. It is what I want and it shall be fulfilled. Do not be concerned about me, but be concerned that EDSA is congested with too much pollution emitting vehicles especially the private vehicles.
Being a Filipino, I am blessed with a skin with lots of melanin making me more naturally protected from the sun. Once in a while I’ll use protective clothing or sun screen. But if my farmer and fisherman friends could do it, then I too can do it.
“Ang init-init! Umuulan! Ma-usok!” You have too much excuses to experience life. Go out and Travel.
This is also a practice for that just-in-case moment in life. When all transportation fails, walking will prevail.
you should organize a photowalk w/ PTB š
Good idea Gladys! š
