I still remember when my father brought me to MV Doulos, a boat that goes around the world with an international crew and brings a lot of books. I’m not a fan of books so I just enjoyed looking at the people who goes around reading books and I look forward for us to get to the food section.
I saw a poster of MV Logos Hope in the airport arrival area of Puerto Princesa telling that it’s the biggest floating book fair in the world, memories of MV Doulos came back to me. They were visiting for a couple of weeks and move to another province in the Philippines before setting out into other countries. Though it did get my attention and I really wanted to visit Logos Hope, I still have matters to attend to so I quickly removed the idea of visiting it.
A few day after I needed to go back to Puerto Princesa to attend a forum and the day before the forum I found out on the Daytripper Facebook Page that Logos Hope was still in Puerto Princesa. Luckily, after the forum I had a meetup with Nathalie of MyWanderingSoles.com. So after we ate lunch at Bona’s Chaolong, we rode tricycle to the port of Puerto Princesa.
We paid the tricycle driver 10 Pesos/person and went to the booth for Logos Hope and we paid 20 Pesos/person for the entrance fee. We walked up to the pier and there were a couple of boats and there it was in its white glory, Logos Hope.
When we entered we were greeted by a crew of different nationalities, that’s also where we gave out ticket from the booth earlier.
We first sat on an area to watch the history and what Logos Hope has to offer. It turns out that Logos Hope replaced Doulos!
Then we entered the books section where there are a lot of books with different topics. Ranging from cooking, medicine, fiction, health, DIYs, travel, trivia and the classic Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. Since Logos Hope is an international vessel that sells books to many countries the prices of the books are in Units which will then be converted to the local currency, in our case Philippine Peso. Luckily, 1 unit is to 1 Philippine Peso. If you compute wrong the exchange rate of Unit to Philippine Peso then you seriously have math issues.
When we got out of the books section there was a pass through section where there are pictures of story with a practical lesson. I could interpret the story from the pictures but I wanted to ask a crew member on what the story was but they were nowhere to be found.
After the picture story section there was the cafe. Where I tried Vanilla Coke and their Chocolate-Vanilla Ice Cream Mix.
Then there was the Life Xperience section which was closed. I really wanted to see it! O well, next time. 🙂
Then the next section was the exit section.
It was just a short but good visit to the Logos Hope. They’re not always there so I’m glad that I got to visit them when they were here in Palawan.
Looking forward to their next visit.
