The next place for us to visit that day was Moalboal in the province of Cebu. The truth is we went there without prior research to the place so we were really clueless on what to do there or where to go from there. All we know is that there is a beach and some resorts that we could stay. Since we did not want day to be a waste we decided to just go to Moalboal and experience the beach there.

The Journey from Carcar City to White Beach, Moalboal
1:38 PM After our delicious lunch of Carcar City Lechon we rode on the bus bound for Bato via Barili. Luckily the bus we rode into was non-airconditioned and we got to take pictures of the seaside.

Note: If you would like to see the seaside during your bus ride to Moalboal from Carcar City seat on the right side of the bus.
Same to what happened to us in Carcar City, we also did not know where to go down in Moalboal. Luckily, this time the bus conductor knows where to drop us.

2:51 PM (Travel Time 1 hour 15 minutes, Fare 59 Pesos/person) We got down the bus at Moalboal and were immediately flocked by the tricycle and habal-habal drivers! We walked down the road first just to avoid them, but some of them were really persistent.
We needed more information on Moalboal before making decisions and since we were not in the mood to ask the drivers we decided to check the internet for more information. It was my first time to experience checking information on my phone while being persistently asked by a driver to avail of his service.
Eventually our move to avoid the drivers led us to San Juan Nepomucen Parish Church Ruins. I’m not sure if my observation is correct but there was a more modern Catholic Church on the side of the ruins.

Since there were not enough information that we could collect on the internet, we decided to head to the Municipal Hall in hopes that we could get more information there.

Municipal Hall of Moalboal
Luckily, there was someone there who was really helpful to us. She discussed to us on where to go and what we could do.
There were two points of interest that we considered.
- Pinagsama Beach in Brgy. Basdiot where a lot diving activities can be sourced. There’s also night life there.
- White Beach in Brgy. Saavedra offers a more relaxing atmosphere as there is no night life but the beach is better and sunset can also be seen.

Since were were not divers, we decided to head to White Beach. We asked for the price if we were to ride a tricycle 150 Pesos/tricycle for the 3 of us. Then we were warned that the accommodation in White Beach, though many, were pretty expensive. We decided that we’ll get there and check the accommodations in the hopes of getting a not so expensive room.
Note: If you are more than 3 persons the tricycle fare will go up.
3:08 PM We got a tricycle and we agreed to the driver’s price of 150 Pesos/tricycle for the 3 of us which is the same price that was adviced to us in the Municipal Hall. Now we were heading to White Beach in Brgy. Saavedra.

Tricycle ride to White Beach
There was a stop where we visitors needed to pay 5 Pesos/person entrance fee to White Beach. This is a Brgy. Ordinance and was also adviced to us when we were in the Municipal Hall.

Finding an Accommodation
3:32 PM (Travel Time 24 minutes, Fare was 150 Pesos/tricycle) We arrived at the resorts of White Beach we have not seen the beach yet but we were checking out different accommodations in the area. The prices were around 2,000-3,000 Pesos/room/night for only 2 persons and the quality of the rooms were for budget accommodations. It was somehow shocking that I had to tell myself that prices depends on each place, we just had to look for one that would fit on our budget. Luckily, our tricycle driver was really patient with us.
4:22 PM Unfortunately, after 50 minutes of visiting several accommodations and resorts we were not able to find an accommodation that would fit our budget. It was either we head to Pinagsama Beach would cost time and fare or we would go for an accommodation that was way above our budget. We decided for the latter since we were tired and wanted to rest already. We stayed at HK Beach Resort for a room good for 4 persons with a price of 2,500 Pesos/room/night.

We paid the tricycle driver 200 Pesos since he was really patient with us and asked us to be fetched at around 11AM so that we would be in the town proper of Moalboal around lunch time.

Testing the Beach and the Sunset
We decided to not yet test the waters of White Beach but to just sit down on the seats along the beach to see the sunset.

Sunset at White Beach
The following day we decided to go swimming. We were decided that we will not leave White Beach without testing the waters.

More cottages for rent
There were several locals who offered us for a boat rental for Island Hopping and Dolphin Watching but we had to decline since we have already blown our budget and we still needed time to go to Badian for the Canyoneering.
Heading back to the Town Proper of Moalboal
10:55 AM We rode the tricycle that was waiting for us at HK Beach Resort to Gaisano Moalboal. Along the way I had to make a quick stop at Palawan Pawnshop since I needed to send some money to Palawan.

Tricycle
11:17 AM (Travel Time 22 minutes, Fare 150 Pesos/tricycle) We paid the driver and thank him for his service. There we met Marky of Nomadic Experiences to join us on our Badian leg of this trip. I also needed to change the strap of my GoPro since it was flimsy and I was not confident it would hold for the Canyoneering Activity.

Gaisano Moalboal

Inside Gaisano Moalboal
After I bought a new strap (dog leash to be exact to be modified into a strap) we went outside of Gaisano Mall and walked back to where Palawan Pawnshop is located as we saw a small canteen there.

Canteen
Surprisingly, the canteen’s food were really affordable. I only spent 35 Pesos for a cup of rice (10 Pesos/cup) and a Fried Chicken (35 Pesos/piece). I’m glad for its affordability because the canteen was located in front of Cebu Technological University which serves mostly to students.
12:03 PM After our lunch we walked back to the bus stop in front of Gaisano to wait for a bus bound for Bato via Barili to get to Badian. We had to walk as buses are strict on where to stop and pick-up passengers.

Bus stop
12:05 PM A bus arrived and we were now bound to Badian for another adventure.

Bus to Badian
Looking at the pictures I think White Beach in Brgy. Saavedra, Moalboal is a beautiful place but I can’t help to feel that it lacks something. Maybe I’ve been to way many beautiful unspoiled beaches. Maybe I was really just tired that day. Or maybe the place lacks activities. Whatever the reason, I think that day I was not the target market of White Beach.
Next time I’ll try staying at Pinagsama Beach to try their activities, if time and finances permits.
